I just got the Iowa after many matches in the Good Ol North Carolina which I quite enjoyed.

However I haven't been doing good in the Iowa. I tried playing it like the NC didn't have a lot of success.

Tried sniping did a bit better but i'm still hemorrhaging credits.

I would appreciate any advice you guys have on how to more effectively play this ship.

I've heard this is the Pinnacle of the American Battleship line.

Thanks for any and all help guys.

Iowa Capt. here :honoring:

well all stock ships are bad so to speak.

the playstyle of the Iowa is pretty much similar to NC but with better gun.

minimum range would be at least 15km though you could go higher if RNGesus permits

you should get c hull ASAP as it buffs rudder speed time next would be engines last would be FCS (if you want too)

well my build is the same as this guy (though I swap MBM 2 for SMB 2 for long range secondaries and BoS for BFT)

I just retrained my captain and I got Main Battery Mod 2 as I had it on the NC and it fits my playstyle. I am trying to play it like I did my NC which I was very successful with, Except I am very much struggling still I am losing a lot of money. Is it just because I'm stock when I get the upgraded hull will I be doing a lot better? Also thanks for your reply I have definitely improved despite still struggling.

Didn't you also start a topic asking about how to not lose money in the Iowa? Anyway, I have been rather successful by playing the Iowa as a sniper. That doesn't mean sit at the back of the map, but if you can aim well, the guns are accurate enough to cit BBs and CAs at 17-19km away. Also, if you're having trouble getting high xp/credits, try aiming for CAs more often. They are easier to cit and dealing 25k damage to a CA is like dealing 50k damage to a BB at tier 9. If you are having trouble aiming, try watching some videos on it. Hope that helps!

Is it a stock ship? If yes, please come back here to talk about her once you've gotten the C hull.

ALL mid to high tier battleships are terrible stock. Without exception. C hull Iowa is a very good ship. Not as agile as the NorCal, but faster, much better guns, better armor.
