You need to play a total of 20 battles to post in this section.

I'd like to have the option to set gun firing groups and lock their positions.

Have you even been in instance combat, for example.

You are in a BB, and found yourself in the middle of the enemy team. You face your BB into the main threat. But this only gives you the ability to use 2 guns. Your other 2 guns are aimed somewhere else.

Now I've been somewhat successful at using my front gus on my main threat, while my rears I aim at another ship. Problem is, when I aim my rear, it also moves my front off target. Sometimes causing me to have to wait to fire again.

Now is I could group my front and rear gun separately, I could lock onto  the main threat with the front guns, while having the rear follow another. i would have to wait less for aiming in between shots. This would also be great for ships with casemount guns. You could split the enemy, and fire from both sides. Just like real life. It would be no different than using a CV with plane squadrons.

That's a problem with your solution. A lot of people can't effectively multitask multiple groups for attacks, while also driving and maintaining any useful amount of situational awareness. That's why a lot people don't play CVs, and why a decent number of the ones who do are garbage at it. We can't manually control our secondary and AA batteries for the same reason.

The system currently in place is what it is to lower the skill requirement and draw in the maximum number of players.

Splitting up main battery control for lower tier ships with their armaments mounted in casemates would be a good idea in my opinion. For ships with conventional turrets, its much less appealing and would probably just confuse idiots too much for it to be worth it.

What I find annoying as hell is that the manual secondaries skill limits you to only designating a single target. This means that a DD within range on the right won't receive any sort of fire if you designated a ship on the left. The perfectly fine secondaries will just sit there inactive until you ctrl+click on another target.

The skill is already situational as hell and literally useless on over half of the ships in the entire game because of the loss of 80% of its effectiveness below tier 7 (why, this makes absolutely no sense, no other skill in the game is treated like this), but this even further limits its functionality, which is really piss poor for a level 5 skill. You have invested a hell of a lot of time and effort to get to a level 5 skill, and to be rewarded with such a lackluster choice is annoying.

for the people who can't use it, don't have to.
