When german BB come into game...

When german BB come into game i think many destroyer players will be having a field day over the fact so many will be grinding those BBs. I myself think i may hold off a bit till the dust settles down. With so many wanting those BB i feel only hardcore CA players will be playing to defend vs DD and will leave the oceans open for DD to just create havoc. I can see it being possible that many games may have half or more of each side being BB. If this happens the only real threat to DD will be other DD.

I'll probably be amused at lower tiers when players begin their grind on the Battleship line, any good destroyer divisions will probably have an amazing time as the playebase adapts to the playstyle of the new ships.

My IJN DD line will be having a ton of fun. My Umikaze, Isokaze, Kamikaze R, Fubuki and maybe even my Shimakaze ( will have to see how that goes at tier 10 ) will be doing a happy dance.

When German BBs come into the game...

 

I'll start at Gneis, play her like a bow-on/angled Tirpitz/Bismarck (same goes for Scharnhorst), then get Bismarck, spec her out for secondaries.  Maybe also speed to F.D.G. and G.Kurfurst to play something new BB-wise, as I stopped my USN BB grind for Montana upon hearing KM BBs were coming.

 

Maybe derp around trying for Die Hards in the process, given their speed and armor (though I should really get to Iowa so that I can use her speed to do it).

Oh GOD I remember those days! 8 to 10 BB's per game, all driven by noobs who have never played a ship higher than tier 3 until they stole Mommy's credit card, bumping into each other in every which way while trying to get sorted out after game start. I saw a guy in a Shimy torp 3 different Tirps with one 5 torp salvo.

Of course that will never happen again after the nerf DD's just got by giving everyone SA.

Anyone with half a brain will simply slaughter them with HE spam or superior BB gun spam. They bring awful accuracy and weak guns for a little speed and armor, which HE/fires doesn't care about anyway.

Still don't get why people are up in arms over Gen still though. Last check all they did aside from remove torps was bump up her guns to the planned upgrade ones that they started installing when she was in for repairs but got hit again.

Bismarck will probably have better AA. I observed one in one of my games today and I at least saw better AA mounts (upgraded hull since I saw AA mounts on top of the turrets, whereas stock hull doesn't have those).

I love my Tirpitz, but I see Bismarck as the superior vessel. The C hull will have actually useful AA and the Yamato - ranged secondaries are better in my mind than the torp racks which usually get explodified before I can use them.

 

As for Gniesenau, my primary complaint is that the ship is not Gniesenau. I actually believe it'll play ok, but would rather WG not lie to our faces about the rationale for not giving it access to the eleven inch gun arrangement. It's an obvious cash grab. I'll be buying Scharnhorst anyway  (always was going to, it's Scharnhorst ffs) but now I'm sad I can't div up with a friend in S&G and properly go raiding. I would be much more tolerant of "Gniesenau" if WG gave this paper ship a paper name. It's furthermore offensive as WG has spent over a year now telling us that Colorado can't get a West Virginia style final hull because "the dual purpose AA battery would be too strong for the CVs it would encounter" and yet they have 11 twin mount 128mm DP guns on this wretched fake "Gniesenau".

I'll take it as a challenge. Nothing wrong with practicing being a not-terrible BB captain who actually knows how to handle DDs. Plus, the German BBs have good turning radius at lower tiers and plenty of secondaries with good range, as well as good reload speed on the main guns. DDs shouldn't be a huge issue.

Same here.  I do the same for new premiums when they come out.  I'll get a new ship, but won't sail it for at least a week or two until the over-flooding of the new toys on the high seas subsides a bit.

The issue isn't isolated to the USN though; Kongou and the ARP copies in-game are all of Hiei, as they felt that Kongou/Haruna/Kirishima would all be too OP for a regular line ship, having far more AA/Secondaries (and resulting HP increase from displacement increase) than Hiei did.  If we're to ever get them, it'll be as a trio of Premiums.  Yamato is also missing some AA; aside from the two mounted on her second turret, she sits somewhere between Yamato and Musashi on AA mounts.  They also won't give Atago her full AA complement despite even the Russians asking for it since they feel it would straight-up make her OP, though they may reconsider it in the future once they rebalance AA and CVs again.

To be clear, I'm asking for the Colorado "C" hull to *be* West Virginia. I was once willing to accept WeeVee as a high AA prem.

 

With the ridiculous profusion of DP AA mounts on tech tree Gniesenau,  I'm no longer willing to accept a scenario where I pay money to get an upgrade that should always have been in the tech tree. 

 

Colorado needs to be "West Virginia" in its top hull configuration now.
