Also, though she was given out without requiring the expenditure of money, I would hesitate to call her 'free' since it took many, many hours of playing ranked to earn her. You had to rank out three times total.

No, it's worse than the Atlanta.

 

Now that the Atlanta has Radar, things have changed. Radar is more valuable than smoke. I used it tonight twice in one game to wreck DDs who tried hiding in smoke at close range. A Flint or Atlanta hiding in smoke is just an XP pinata for anything with torpedoes, since it has neither the acceleration or the rudder shift to avoid torp spreads when stopped or at low speed.

 

It has better medium range AA DPS, but worse long range. Long range DPS is more valuable because that is where planes spend most of their time in range of your AA.

 

The missing wing turret reduces its HE DPM. In real life, removing the turrets improved stability. We don't have to deal with that though in the game.

 

The torpedoes are still situational, but technically better than the Atlanta.

 

As a package I would have to say that the Atlanta is on average the superior ship.

Every Flint I played against today got destroyed quickly. In fact Atlanta using Radar had more success imo.

I'm a little annoyed that I didn't start playing Ranked until the stupidly long season, so I'm not eligible and won't be by the time the next reward ship rotates in, in S6. I'm also a little concerned about what this form of limited access will do if the next Ranked or Team Battles season is T7.

 

That said, I don't begrudge the people who have been doing this long enough to earn this ship. Good job, folks.

You are you and I am me. I believe this is a fair reward, why? Because Atlanta is hardly the best ship. In fact, it's laughably easy to strike it down. Take the Blyskawica for example, it can absolutely wreck the Atlanta at range.

So there's grounds for a forum thread about the very few who got a ship for free that is similar to what others have paid for? How does that diminish the value of your original purchase? What I read into this is envy, that's it! Those players played hard to get that ship and they completely earned it. Let them enjoy their virtual spoils and be a good sport about it.

I doubt the atlanta will out perform the flint in regards to stats... The smaller group of semi-competent players should be able to outperform the average atlanta potato with ease
