0.5.9 Graphics Problem(s)

The 0.5.9 patch/update has reintroduced some graphic issues I experienced in prior releases. I'm a good test subject because I play on an Asus K53 laptop with integrated Intel graphics. Here's what has happened.

 

Only certain maps do this and I encourage you to look at them. The arctic tier 8/10 map now draws so much cpu/gpu the internal fan kicks on quite fervently. Other maps do not do this so I suspect it is related to the amount of graphical elements continually being loaded or the variety of such elements. Of course that's just a SWAG. All I know is other maps it does not occur. This map it does.

 

A few releases back the standard map with the channel up the middle suddenly exhibited this trait, back when the UI went wacko and we were TK'ing each other. It was addressed - in some manner - and no longer does it draw down on the cpu/gpu.

Yeah I noticed a few days before the patch that most maps now show the literal boarder of the map. I can see lines extending up into the sky as well below the water that form a box around the map. It's really annoying. Also my fan sound like its running on overdrive.  Also noticed a small FPS hit. I haven't done anything that should of caused this. I've updated to the newest drivers a while before this happened so it shouldn't be them causing it.

Any mods?  theres a mod in Aslains which makes the border visible like that and yes, it's a drain on the graphics unit.

I'm plain vanilla. What gets me is the PTS ran nicely, even located much farther from the states. It actually ran smoother - and cooler - than the former current release.

 

I think they pulled some parameters out of the BigWorld engine file, hardcoding them somewhere other than engine.xml. I also think it is possible some form of optimization is needed for the map in question... and perhaps, others. 

 

It is good to know tho I'm not the only one with issues regarding the maps.
