This isn't the first, and its not likely to be the last, but when one team has THREE detonations and the enemy team has none, there is something seriously wrong with letting a 100% RNG mechanic that is more or less not avoidable decide the outcome of a game.

I've been in multiple games since patch 5.8 were there are 2, and at least twice that I can remember, 3 detonations on one team - but none on the other team.

Yes, there's that handy dandy -70% detonation module upgrade - but why do players need to gimp themselves over the Main Battery upgrade because of such a randomly [edited]mechanic?

Dear Wargaming, I know you don't give a crapunless it's written in Cyrillic, but please, PLEASE remove detonations from the game.

Maybe, just maybe, they'll realize when nobody take the detonation mod because it gimps their damage output because their turrets die all the time, that the MBM needs to have the reduction to detonation chance put back in. Or maybe even remove detonations entirely!

But, it's historically accurate!

Compare with how many ships detonated on the British side at Jutland, and how many detonated on the German side

I like having detonations in the game. Sometimes it gives a nice turnaround.

I rarely do a detonation or get detonated, so I don't understand your problem with this one game or the few games you had problems with it. Perhaps sometimes more detonations happen than normally, but that has all to do with chance.

Just join next battle and enjoy the game :)

Except for the whole part about how many other things about this game aren't historically accurate - and WG calls it an arcade game.

I get detonated maybe once out of 200-300 games. Then again I keep myself angled to all enemy fire nearly 100% of the time. Make angling your ship a higher priority in your focus during game play and not only will you get detonated less, but it will also help your low 41% survival rate.

You play BBs mostly, which tend to not get detonated.

I have been detonated in back to back games since the module changes and the game after that I detonated another player.

Then the next day I get detonated on the first hit I take in my Lo Yang.

They should be in the game, but the rate they are happening right now are excessive.

You're right.

Speaking of which, I should be able to do an anchor drift using Iowa. And shoot tachyon beams out of Yamato's bow.

So your solution is to angle more? You know how much that helped when I ate a torp in the bow of my Nagato in Ranked? Or all the times its gonna help in a DD? Or how about the time when I got blown up by one shell at the start of the game in my angled Tirpitz? Or even better, how about during my angled brawl with an Iowa in my Yamato? Should I keep going? Tell me how to git gud and outsmart RNGesus! My survival rate is low so I must be terrible!

I'd love to see British BBs with a detonation likelihood true to history! :teethhappy:

Show me how to angle a Udaloi. Please, I want to see you do that successfully.

It does seem like detonations have been happening more often. I even switched the first module of my USN DD's just because of it.

Honest question... I tend to run BBs mostly with cruisers secondary. My BBs are the only ones I play regularly in high tiers. I always run the anti-det module, but I very very very rarely ever lose a main gun in combat. Probably maybe one battle out of 10.

Is losing your main guns a bigger problem for higher tier cruisers? It doesn't seem like it's a huge issue for BBs at any tier or mid to low cruisers. I seem to lose torpedo launchers way more than main guns on my cruisers. Have I just been lucky so far?

I don't know about high tier cruisers, but when I used to play my Konigsberg, Cleveland, Molotov, Kutuzov, and Hipper I'd loose turrets every other match (usually one turret, sometimes two -  rarely more than that, though it did happen.)

However, since I haven't run a cruiser I can tell you that I've still been losing my khab, udalo, fletcher and blys guns with some regularity - usually once every few games I'll lose a turret, and I've had a few games in the last month were I lose the 2 (or in the Udaloi's case, 3) torpedo tubes....

Also played a a 5.8 tirpitz game were I lost two front turrets and both torpedo tubes....

RNG in this game is just....fucky.

I've been detonated twice in my Tirpitz in the last week. Both from torpedoes, one from only 3k health (I welcomed the signals, but didn't put any on), then again the next night from full health (RNGsus reminding me that the first one should have been a sign). Even though it had been a long time since I'd seen one in my own ship, I see detonations at least every night. The fact that they're still a thing absolutely baffles me. What baffles me more is how so many people think that 100% pure, unadulterated RNG kills from full health is a good game mechanic.

Angling does next to nothing to avoid a detonation in most ships.  Also, 41% is not a low survival rate.

Seems like the torpedo tubes on Tirpitz are the first things to go. I've had them blown off as I was lining up a shot with them.

Haven't played many DD games except low tier stuff so no experience there to speak off, but it sounds like their guns are pretty fragile. /And/ they are the most likely ships to go boom.

Best RNG I've seen with detonation  was my friend detonating another DD in his Khab. He was still chuckling in our voice chat when he was detonated himself a few seconds later.

I can attest to this, last time I got detonated was in a Tirpitz. Got hit in the nose with a torpedo and that somehow detonated me -.- and I'm 100% sure it was the Torpedo because it was just me and an Aoba in a knife fight. I got unlucky and killed the little bugger a second after he launched his torps. Only took one of them but it was enough *sigh*

Detonations are fine.

I've had 3 I think, out of 1000+ games?

Generally speaking, ships that get detonated are going to die shortly anyway.  It's rare that a detonation occurs out of the blue to a ship that isn't already screwed.
