She will only ever excel at one thing, and that's surprising enemy DDs up close and then punching them in the face until they die. In all other situations she is vastly inferior, as evident in server performance. If you ever plan to buy the ship you need to have an intricate knowledge of how to utilize said strength, as you will likely rage sell this thing faster than Atlanta otherwise. Aren't most US destroyers primarily DD hunters? Sims can stealth fire without AFT or CE, and is great at harassing battleships, and if you have good aim, cruisers. Three second reload time is awesome, too. It's just like any US destroyer, except Sims has the guns from the Benson at tier 7. It's a wonderful ship. The Atlanta is, too, but it takes some special thinking to make her work right. I love the Atlanta though.

Funny you mention the Atlanta, as she makes for an incredible Div mate w/the Sims.... Sims pushes a cap w/an Atlanta near, Sims finds the enemy and Atlanta wrecks. They work REALLY well at bullying caps, If you add in a competent CV player, well... Even better. Just cause a ship has [edited]stats server wide doesn't mean she is garbage,

Sims is a blast to play and one of my best DDs. Add BFT and Concealment skills for a potent DD destroyer. Good scout and the potatoe mines (torps) hit more often than I expected (which was almost never). Super fast turrets & reloads. Very agile and great at kiting. Server performance is a poor metric for premium ships IMHO. There's a big skill set leap from Clemson to Sims, but $$$ can get you the ship regardless of whether or not you have the experience to make the most of her. It takes a lot of practice and time to get used to the stoopid shells arcs from USN DD guns. But once you have it nailed, you can run up and down the line from Nicholas to Benson. I got the Sims to accelerate training for a Benson captain. Kind of expected a grind but enjoy her very much. Now that 15 skill points lets you get Concealment Expert and Basic Firing Training, let her rip!

What a lot of people miss out on the sims is that it's a premium american DD that's gun handling characteristics are the same rapid fire guns with huge arcs across the entirety of the USN 5 inch guns, people bought into the sims expecting something else and fail miserably. The entirety of the USN DD line has always been to latch on and get into knife fights with other DD's, the Sims is no different. The sim's real potential is in it's unparalled maneuverability for any DD in the game, 500m turning circle, 2.7 second rudder without the upgrade, the propulsion upgrade is the cherry on top allowing for maximum control over speed, the guns turn quick, allowing for more options for dogfighting, needing to turn the ship doesn't put you in a bad spot that limits your firepower. (The 11.1 km invis fire is really nice too). Sure her offensive stats leave a little to be desired, but if a player can use the sim's strengths to it's maximum potential, it's an absolutely devastating ship to deal with. The sims can be a feisty little devil once the player gets used to playing her. Edited July 28, 2016 by Ponymagistrate

Any word if they will add it into the tech trees? Get the Gremy, Sim's is so so with it's weak torps and crazy bad gun arcs. Though sadly, they said they'll never sell the Gremy. Probably due to it's OPness.

My Random win rate with her is something like 46%, but in Ranked it was 60%. I learned a lot on how to play her better due to this season of Ranked battles. Haven't really played her since, but I'm looking forward to using those lessons in future PvP matches. As you mentioned, she can be a very good ship when played to her strengths.
