What happened to gameplay lately?

Not sure if it's bad luck, but the quality of gameplay and teams has been going downhill since a few weeks ago. I am sure that I'm not the only one to have noticed this. I wonder why. I usually play 9PM-2AM Pacific time and sometimes in the mornings from 10-noon. Trends I am seeing: Passiveness / cowardice, players preferring to not do anything or advance so slowly, often no capping at all, the drunk BB, getting ridiculed when asking for a battle plan etc. And so many other things. Or....... Sometimes I barely have time to do anything before half my team gets annihilated and points drop below zero, or...... a few players on my team get all the kills, or the enemy team is slaughtered before I can react. What happened to the game?

In one game last night on Fault Line, the West advance from the South spawn point was being held up by a BB and a CL vs. 4 CA/CL and a BB. Nobody wanted to push.

The kiddies should go masturbate instead. I actually said this in chat to a BB today. He was calling me stupid for attempting to push (12 year old), I went ahead and ended up torping an enemy Texas, dealt 35 to 40k damage to a Fusos and took more than 1/2 HP from a Konigsberg.  Although I died I ended up doing 102k damage and placed first. Him? 10th.

Fog could have the best answer so far but, yes i have noticed that all game play has gone down hill. Everyone ignores the CAPs and they do appear to just want to sink the ships.

And even when they want to sink the ships, well, they get annihilated. The kid in a BB: "Aoba you idiot, you will get killed. If you die it's none of my business. Do you even know how to play? Wait for them to come to us?!!!!!" It was a Domination battle. I clicked 3, fired a spread of fish that I knew wasn't going to hit. That scared him enough and actually made him move up a little. None of his shots hit the enemy but at least he was a meat shield. Kids in Asia seem to be more serious gamers and play better despite being the same age as kids in this game. I cringe when I see capping being spelled as "caping", seen it quite a few times recently. I cringe when I ask for a plan and get something like: "Don't die", "kill em all", or...... the dreaded silence. I've seen CVs try to be BBs or CAs by exposing themselves. I've seen players who just spam the _×€#&÷£ over and over again, or those who give coordinates and spam them. This morning I had a few close calls with friendly torps, and the DD or CA would rage at me. Can you guys imagine a bunch of 10 year olds playing together? Ooooohhhhh, shiny new ships!!!!!! Ooooohhhhh, it has guns!!!!!! Ooooohhhhh, and torpedoes too!!!!° WOW its so fricking bad [edited]!!!!!! I don't want it's paint to be scratched!!!!!

I don't know if the quality of gameplay has changed substantially, but the amount of blaming in chat seems to have gone up.

 

In the past few days alone, I've been:

• Called a coward for not solo knife fighting a Tashkent in a Fubuki
• Accused of not protecting a stock Lex (111) in a T10 game, who got overrun after the other ships on his side of the map were sunk by bombers
• Yelled at as CV for not providing air cover every single time somebody gets blindsided by a torpedo squadron (well, that one's not new, I suppose...)

This is the wargaming playerbase working as intended. Either you can get used to it or find another game. Looking at the amount of people that play this game, most have chosen the latter.

 

My suggestion is to play pve because:

Indeed, I did find one place last week where there were even more afk and incompetent people than Random Battles, and it was co-op.

Perhaps in lower tiers since I've seen 1 afk person in higher tiers once in several months. Agree that there are players with contentious plays in coop. I began documenting their odd plays at wowsreplays. On a side note, I've met many nice and intelligent people whom you can rely on in coop that share the same sentiment.

The same can be said for Random Battles, but for whatever reason the nature of forum posts seems to be to complain about the negatives instead of acknowledging the positives.

Good (bad?) to see it's not just me that's experiencing this. This game has slowly been becoming unplayable since Monday. When is the next season of Ranked or when are Team Battles coming back?

It's only getting worse as this stupid mikasa event continues.

 

I kind of wish at this point that they would quit handing out ships, because the dregs who only play during "special events" come out, and suck all the brain power right off the match.

You will either get amazing matches, where you would swear you are shooting bots... or matches where you are 99% sure the bots are your allies.

I second the "coop" thing - I have found that things are worse in coop than random battles - like friendly cruisers torpedoing my Tirpitz point blank (not checking if they are clear) or everyone dying in the first 2 minutes.  Its worse when you have bots on your team, but its still bad even when you don't.  But I am newer to the game, so I refuse to run my high tier premiums in pubs until I am more comfortable with them, so I will continue to suffer through coop.  I will say that it does teach you to be more aggressive as the bots just plunge in head first, so you have stay with them if you want to survive or do any good.

it seems the focus for a lot of players is survival ..not winning ..you win by points ..capping or inflicting damage and sinking enemy ships 

the other day had a game with me in my Murmansk another cruiser a BB and a DD headed to cap C, the DD decided hes not going in there so I alone did... .enemy not there yet..I capped it sinking an enemy DD...next!!!!! B... am headed there to cap theres an enemy Cruiser there with little health ..but the ships with me ...they go into C...its capped no enemy there ..what? I go B sink the enemy Cruiser there cappig itt ... look to A.. that's a suicide run alone as all enemy there... just then the enemy CV pops up so I had to sink it meanwhile some of the ships that were with me  are still in C and some are headed out into open water cause no one close to shoot em I guess

 Things have not changed at all gameplay wise, there have always been a bunch of terrible players.

 

I think people are just being nostalgic, when we look back we tend to forget or minimize the bad.
