Just a suggestion - was in Neighbors, standard domination (3 caps). The northernmost cap is centered over an island. Fairly large island. Problem is the cap indicator on the minimap obscures the entire island. I increased zoom on the minimap and still could not see the island.

I drive by minimap. I dont get this map that often. Of course now I'll try to remember this but if they just offset the cap centers by a few hundred meters maximum it wouldn't be a problem.

Thanks for the electrons

Hadn't actually noticed that... Mostly because seeing Neighbors come up promotes 'Insta-HateTM' in the same manner Strait does. Too constricted and spawns too close together.

Three most despised maps; Shatter, Neighbors, Strait, in that order.

I'm assuming "Ocean" get's it's own special platform of hate way above all those, then?

I'd imagine it's assumed that everyone hates Ocean, so it isn't even mentioned.

It's also not a "map".

Ah, this is true. Very true.

Ocean is not nearly as universally hated as you think. I personally enjoy it even as a DD, and there are many others who like it for its historical accuracy (myself included) since a lot of battles were fought in open water (or mostly open water).

:hmm:

I respect your opinion.  I'm of the opinion that zipping in and out of islands, using them for cover and ambushes is much more "fun", even if less historically accurate, than being lit up by planes while trying to accomplish the only true way for me to get XP.  Historical accuracy /= fun.

When I get into the ocean map and atleast three people curse it upon loading in... I may be on to something with my more universal hatred opinion.

Oddly enough, I actually don't dislike Ocean at all any more, sure it's bad in some respects; but if I can actually survive and be at least moderately successful on it in an Atlanta, (and I have done so several times,) then I guess it can't be that bad? I don't know; I guess learning to be successful in a ship that desperately needs cover taught me that Ocean wasn't as bad as I thought.

Yes, I should probably adapt on the other maps; but Shatter is hated because for such a huge map the spawns a too close, and I've seen it too many times for my liking. Sure is fun playing on a map where you can stay in the open and get deleted by a battleship, or get close and get deleted by a destroyer... Them 'fun and engaging game mechanics,' gotta' love 'em.

Straight and Neighbors are hated because if you play a carrier you're pretty much screwed, since moving away from spawn means getting spotted and killed, and staying close and hiding in the few 'safe' areas means everyone knows where you are/where you'll be, and you'll probably die from that as well.

Strait has it's own special place in hell, because within 2-3 minutes of the game starting, if the team behaves in a particular fashion, I can usually predict with certainty that the game is already lost.

Exactly -- that.  While I have to admit that I usually clean up at Strait (it's great for the IJN DDs I favor), I nevertheless still dislike it because it validates players who are, shall we say, 'risk adverse,' by giving them an excuse to indulge their impulse to run away.  Too often the map ends up being a place where the brave die abandoned.

Notably, I have a similar love-hate thing with Ocean. My Minkekaze can romp in all that space, but too often I can't save my team if it's weak -- they evaporate too fast in the Ocean's open space.

I just play the map (actually 'chart') I'm given.

I advise everyone to do the same without bad mouthing it.

All that is is Map Whining  - look what that has done to WoT.

You  'whiners' want WoWS to start removing maps here?

Not me.

As someone above says ... adjust, adapt, play whatever WoWS gives you.
