So i'm happily torping away with my teammates, trying to hold the cap from a superior force, while the rest of the team is pushing up the East side, and are getting very close to the enemy cap. And then, a enemy Colorado, of all ships, decides to abandon the cap and rush up the middle. I ask him if he's giving up, and he says, "no i'm not, i'm trying to win here." Seriously, who tries to win by abandoning their cap? So i'm sitting there, thinking, ok then..... But i can't leave him be, so i make a torp run on him with a Myoko. I watch as the Colorado travels in a straight line, using no WASD whatsoever. 4 of my torps land on him, and several of the Myoko's torps hit him as well, deleting him in an instant. This is fairly normal for a tier 5-7 battle, where not many people use WASD. But what's really stupid is what the Colorado player says next. This is the ensuing conversation between him and I, rephrased to be more appropriate for forums. Colorado: I hate you, torps are OP because they deleted me. F*** destroyers and torps, and F*** you. Torpedoes are OP as h*ll. Me: WASD Hacks are OP, staying with your teammates is OP, and not rushing the other team alone is OP. Colorado: Hacks are for [edited]. (Is this guy stupid?) I don't need hacks to be good. Me: You're kidding right? You realize i'm talking about using WASD to maneuver? Colorado: I can't maneuver, because my top speed is 21 knots, and if i maneuver it drops to 18 knots. Me: Your choices are, maneuver and dodge torps while losing a couple knots in speed, or do not maneuver and rush even faster into our cap while taking a whole spread of torps. And you chose not to maneuver. Colorado: Torps are OP, because i can't maneuver, and if i don't maneuver, i will be killed by them. And so on...... Hope this gave some people a few laughs, thank you for reading!

At T7 basically everyone outpaces you so you always feel like you're going to be left behind. At 21 knot max speed any decrease feels debilitating so you just point it at something and travel in a straight line. Being targeted by torpedoes, or aircraft for that matter, feels frustrating as well, because with other ships shooting at you, you can see them and you can shoot back. However, when you're targeted with torpedoes there's this feeling of helplessness because you don't know when or where the next strike is coming from and they can strike you with impunity it seems. On the other hand, after moving up through some other lines, I'm not nearly as frustrated by them.

Well, i was shooting at the Colorado while i was torping him, so he should have known where to turn to...

If he felt his cap would ultimately succumb and his presence would only delay (not prevent) that inevitability, and that he had time to possibly grab a lightly defended cap through the middle, then it might not have been a bad decision knowing what he knew at the time. In hindsight, considering the cap was adequately defended with at least a DD and a CA, both with torps, it was a bad decision. Even with a WASD hack, a CO running the slot isn't going to survive a prepared Minie and a Myoko. There is no WASD option in the slot. Twelve torps! Eighteen if the Myoko has time to set it up. Even if he clears the slot, a CO can't dodge 18.
