I notice alot of guys complaining about their secondary guns hitting people now that we have that annoying pink message in chat.

Remember the 'P' key turns off your secondary guns, and AA guns, hit it again when you want to turn them on.  This will allow you to avoid shooting your own team mates. Also useful for you DDs who don't want your AA going off.

HAHAHAHA, NO I'm not about to cripple my own self defense because some [edited]is incapable of using that magical thing called player situational awareness. We're being forced to gimp ourselves or get punished because wargaming and their idiotic appologists refuse to accept that something outside of player control besides on and off should not be something the player is punished for. If Secondaries are to be kept causing damage to other people, then friendly AA should damage friendly planes while enemy planes are in the bubble.

:hmm:how about the secret "Key"

You have to give the secret WoWS handshake first.

Its slightly different from the Phi Beta Kappa handshake.

the problem arises when enemy planes come flying overhead and then u have to choose between damaging allies or shooting planes....im okay with turning off secondaries only (i do that all the time if there is chance to hit ally) but im not okay with it also turning off my aa especially when planes are incoming

Why? because there's a subset of the community that's too dumb to realize wargaming CAN do things wrong and are looking for every excuse to put the blame of this on the playerbase and not the devs where it belongs. These are the same people who said the slow load times before the optimizations was because people weren't using SSDs, and not because wargaming screwed up their optimization. They were wrong then, they are wrong now.

My thoughts exactly.

In my Mikasa I killed a friendly DD that sailed in between the Mikasa and an enemy cruiser.  This at less than 2km. I saw him coming but at the time I could not remember the "P" key command.  My secondaries tore him up. Glad I did not turn pink.

So thanks for the reminder.

Yes it's entirely reasonable to transform my Yamato into a free target for aircraft carriers because a cruiser sailed between me and an enemy ship 10km away.

If there's a friendly between you and an enemy then HE is your defense. He is closer, can help do damage, can take damage, and will stop torps even after he sinks.

Why would you hold his positioning against him and why oh why would you deal damage to him? Even thinking purely selfishly you'd want him there as long as possible.

I would agree with your last point though, secondaries need to just not shoot at friendlies.

Please tell me again how an allied cruiser at some point in the Yamato's 10km secondary radius warrants me turning off my only reliable defense against enemy aircraft.

Secondaries and AA really ought to be separated out, but Wargaming has a bit of a preference for simplicity of controls.

But as far as the warning and liability for secondary damage?

Take responsibility for what your secondaries are doing. If I'm in my Farragut trying to knife-fight the Gnevny making a suicide run at you, you'd better be prepared to face the potential consequences if you feel the need to let your drunken secondary battery spray 6" shells all over us while I'm doing so.

It's not going to be a lot of damage (unless you have an allied ship practically scraping either your or your target's hull, neither of which are common cases). Sometimes it's worth it to keep your secondaries on, sometimes it isn't. But this attitude of "screw you for unfairly punishing me" is ridiculous. The amount of friendly damage you'll commit is minor, the fines levied are not a big deal, and even if you become pink, that's not nearly the big deal everyone makes it out to be.

Grow up and accept your slap on the wrist like an adult.

The guy or gender equil gal who mans the secondary guns is useless having personally seen them firing wildly all over the place and should be brought up on charges found guilty and hung from the closest yardarm .. Keelhauled.. 30 lashes while tied to main mast and have his or her rum ration suspended... Perminety... I didnt do it Sir it was my secondarys

You act like your secondaries will fire literally 360° at once whenever there is a friendly ship within 10km. Obviously there needs to be an enemy ship in that radius, and they need to be on a similar bearing. On top of that, unless they're also close to each other, the elevation of your secondaries will mean only a few shells stand a chance of committing friendly damage. These constraints mean your scenario far less common than you're implying.

Sometimes they are. I'm a pretty aggressive Yamato player.

WHY IS IT SO DAMN HARD TO DO THIS

DING DING DING!!!!! WINNER WINNER CHICKEN DINNER!

To be fair to WG, they have said that it is bullcrap that players are getting flagged for team damage, via their AI controlled secondary batterys, and that in an upcoming patch plan on doing away with friendly fire from them. But still, that begs the question - why not do away with friendly fire damage altogether?

The reason they allow friendly fire damage/TK'ing/pinkening/credit and xp fines/etc, is for one reason - to slow down player progression, increase the grind, and "encourage" players to spend real money to save their time and sanity.

Because according to the pro-team-damage crowd, team damage is good for the game and removing it just encourages stupid plays and trolling.

A brash way of putting it, but I strongly agree.

P is the dumbest button to press for that.....

I would remap mine to something convenient for the left hand. Or if you have a few extra buttons on your mouse like I do, on the mouse. I have secondary/AA toggle (P) and Defensive Fire (....T?) set to two mouse buttons easily reachable by thumb.

Here's a question to ponder - if you have two bots on your team, and one does friendly fire damage to the other - does WG fine itself?

I just wanted to help......

:(

Recent WG activity has seemed to stir up the player base. Negative reactions abound....:teethhappy:

And I have to agree with most of the responses here. Why would you ever put a friendly fire chance on a weapon you have no control over, other than to turn it off? It's such a basic mistake I have to wonder if they learned anything from their previous titles....:hmm:

+1...

Last night, nearing the close of the match, I'm beginning my brawl w/my Tirpitz mirror.

2v1...Tirpitz-Balitmore (who already had 2 kills) vs the remaining Tirpitz near full health.

So here I am against the Tirpitz, hoping to bring the session to a close...Mains blasting each other, Secondaries setting both on fire...both of us are positioning to lauch/dodge torpedos.

Here come the T9 Baltimore sailing smack in front of me to ....

And I mean SMACK in FRONT of ME...a micro second after I fired a timed salvo.

to uh, assist...

I told him post match his assertion was wreckless.

He called me a girl.

May have to find that replay and record a trailer on what not to do...
