In the new public test 0.5.9, the pulsing stopwatch indicator has been removed is this a permanent removal for the only way for players who are not good shots in the game to compete with those who can.  Witch is ironic because the fact that the it does exist now further proves that the current and all "tic" marks for the cross hairs are irrevant to being able to accurately fire on enemy ships. This would lead the majorty of players who are not good at aiming to have not way to ever hit anything, To remove this stopwatch indicator would be like removing the aim assist for torpedoes in that the aim assist currently in the game does not garentee a hit it is just an indicator of likely hit. So please do not remove it as it is the only way for those of us who have noticed it have to play world of warships, with those who think they are good at aiming. Thank you

It almost feels like a serious cheat, and I'm considerably happy it is being removed. Btw it's a glitch, an accidental inclusion of a sort of bug. Sorry you felt you needed it, but there's nothing I can do.

yes it's permanent.

learn to aim like the rest of us.

My question is how do YOU know it's permanent?  Just telling someone to learn how to aim like the rest of us isn't very constructive.  Instead of a blanket response like that why not give the person some insight or suggestions as to how to aim properly if he doesn't know how?

I didn't know this existed until a few days ago... I learned to make a science of ticks and flight times since CBT.... I can't use the annoying pulse to aim because its disorientating to my style of aiming, I'm too dependent upon my system for it to effect me at this point.

Same as Kms, I have learned to aim just by playing many games that it's just intuitive now.

I am sorry that you cannot use that feature anymore, but I am pretty certain WG thought of it as a 'cheat'.

I can only say that you have to learn to aim again, which definitely sucks. Alas, this is how the game is meant to be played.

Here, this video by iChase should teach you all the basics of how to lead using the mildots on the reticule without ever having to rely on the old stopwatch 'blink'.

I watched this fairly recently, and though I was already fairly close to what he shows in this video with my aiming method, this did help me to be more precise with my shots.

Edit: Lol, ninja'd hard. :P Should have scrolled all the way down before posting.

Thank you all so far for the comments, I would agree that how do you know it's permanent, and again before i noticed i used ichase's method of doubling the lead for dd's, about the same time lead for time for cusers and half the distance for bb's. It did work effectively until update 5.8, and again can you teach me instead of like the rest, because of how bad i am i have had to change how i play the game like the "rest of you"

Because WG said that it's permanent. It was never intended to be in the full release.

Well I mean, I don't use intuition. I just figured out the correlation between flight times and the reticle.

General rules:

USN BBs/ships that go ~20 knots = -2s to flight time

Ships going faster than 30 knots = +1.5/2s

DDs = +7

20 degree angle of approach/retreat = -2s and aim on the high or low edge of the hull

30/45 degree angle = 1/2 flight time and raise the reticle above or below the hull

70+ degree angle = +1-2s to the side they're going

Specific rules:

-1s for Warspite

Bonus rules:

USN DDs; zoom out one from max zoom, then move to general rules

USN heavy shells; -1s at ranges past 17km, +1s closer than 14km

German ships go straight to general rules

Warspite; +1s to all aiming

he asked a question. i answered based on what i've been hearing. he didn't ask how to aim in the OP, he asked to leave his crutch in the game.

when he then responded by asking how to aim, i was going to link him a video, but several others have already beat me to it. i shouldn't feel obligated to hold his hand based on his initial post. if he had asked how to aim originally, i would have obliged. he didn't. sorry if that comes off as brash to you, but i'm a little irritated by similar posts on this topic.

And wargaming may consider it a bug but i have see no indication that this i a bug, and if they remove it then get rid the lead indicator for dd's.....right?

It's not a bug, it just wasn't supposed to be in the game. The torpedo indicator, on the other hand, was, because you only aim torpedoes in one dimension, making it very difficult to get an accurate time on an enemy ship. Also, because the travel times are so long, the calculations you'd have to do would be pretty unreasonable, combined with the fact that there's not really an aiming reticle for it, just a spread cone..

Again tell me how you aim, and if you can teach how you aim then i would say you have mastered it, and trust me when i say I have seen all the videos on how to aim. Missing the other topic that in the "tic" marks have to be meanless would me by design wargaming does not want us to aim accurately

I just did :sceptic:

So if it's not a bug it should stay in the game, it would just give players like my self who have a difficulty aiming a chance, again the current stopwatch pulse, like the dd's torp lead, is and indicator or possibility, and again what I am trying to do here is make this game fair for all of us.  Not just the few (and total respect if you have figured it out) who have it down. because it will only help your teammates be better shots so WoW so why not keep it

And sorry i was ref to anybody on this forum who says stuff like "tough just learn like the rest of us", and trust me I will take anything anyone gives to become the best shot i can be. Because this community or the community that
WoW has created, is not very supportive of player "who can's play" and that also needs to change

The terms "natural selection," "sink or swim," and "survival of the fittest" come to mind...

And also if you notice all the video's use the time from the stopwatch, witch has also been removed in 5.9, so now if the time has been removed how will the "rest of us(you)" aim, there is more on what they are taking away then just the pulse effect

It just takes a bit of practice to get the feel of true aiming.  Your brain starts recognizing the speed of your shells and where they will land in a future tense.   I'm glad they are removing that little aiming cheat mode.  Everyone will adapt, just like in any other shooter without assist modes.
