I remember a few hellish games of World of Tanks.  The tanks would load, the textures would load...the buildings and terrain would not.  I had to drive around via the minimap and pray that when I shot at an enemy tank I wouldn't hit a building (because the building wasn't populated, I could see the tank clearly).
