The Myoko is by far my favorite ship ATM and I am still working on getting the upgraded torpedoes and the C hull but I still am loving every minute of playing her. I can see why so many players love the ship and are always calling her the best tier 7 cruiser, if not best tier 7 ship of all. She is not the best at anything, just good at everything. I just had a monster game that is now my highest damage and highest XP score, considering I am only up to tier 7 so far. It was a tier 8 game. Amazingly it was without using any torps too lol.

DefPr78.jpg

It was 4,173 xp, with premium which was 2,794 base xp. I love this ship and highly recommend it to anyone thinking of going up the IJN cruiser line or just an all around good cruiser. You will not be disappointed, just play too her strengths and learn not to ever sail broadside unless mandatory.

Very well done. Myoko is a solid ship and definitely a keeper as you progress into the solidified "meh" of Mogami on your way to Zao.

Myoko is really good at punishing ignorance and bad habits, as are most T7 ships.  Paddling broadsides and torpedo walls against people who sail in straight lines becomes easiest at T7 and hence a lot of people are either stuck there because they can't deal with it or are just very slowly grinding to T8.  I liked 155 Mogami more than Myoko since she's a much better DD killer (15 hits on most will pretty much sink them from full HP), but players at T8+ are unfortunately not as stupid...yet.

Whatever... Love to know what the secret is to getting people to ignore you long enough to do this kind of thing...

It's like I have a big flashing neon sign over my ship no matter what I do...

'HEY! SHOOT THIS GUY!!!'

Believe it or not it is all in where you place your ship. if you are one of the first to be spotted by the enemy or sailing broadside and all your allies are angled the enmy will usually shoot at you. You have to kind of imagine the view from your enemie's point of view and place your ship to where you will not be the priority target, at least early in a match. In the middle to later stages you have to attack isolated ships and take them down, just don't sail in a straight line and make them work for shots on target, all the while firing your guns. it really is an art, but once you learn it , it becomes second nature. If you ever need someone to sail with let me know i would be happy to.

The neon sign might be caused by using ARP Myoko lol

Thanks! I have to say I think the Zao is now going to be my first tier 10. The grind to tier 10 is so long you can't do it in a ship you don't enjoy playing ya know?

Yes I love Tanz's skin for it and the Kancolle camo one is pretty nice too.

I've only played her twice(5.7 performance issues have wrecked the game for me, barely playable, so I've given up until 5.8).

However, from those two games, I can tell she's awesome.

My only gripes are the slow turret turn, and the fact that she can't bear all or most of her guns without showing to much of her sides, but hey, whataya gonna do?

Anyone got any advice for gunnery on this baby?

Myoko is one of my favorites with HE that almost makes AP obsolete and AP that is almost the best in its tier plus torpedoes and good stealth it is full of tools to abuse against its enemies.

Caught! (Yep... That does happen to be my Myoko... Maybe I should get a regular one as a present for my Furutaka captain, since they took away his favorite six turreted ship model...)

Sometimes it seems I manage to do that instinctively, but mostly just with my destroyers. I have to leave for A bit. I 'll PM later on the Division.

Myoko has one serious flaw and that's her turning radius. If you get caught sailing towards an enemy and have to retreat, some more enemies popped up, it's like her turning speed was specifically designed to punish you.

15 seconds after you start turning you are not quite perfectly side on to your enemy. This ensures all CAs will have a very big chance to citadel you.

At 30 seconds you are almost 75% done of your turn. If you started your turn right after a BB fired at you, you would have just finished eating his next salvo for massive citadels.

What is the rudder the size of a pizza box?

Other than that and the stupid torpedo arcs, she's a decent ship.

Umn... are you being serious? Or are you just saying she is good enough to be a tier 8? Much confusion has my brain.

Excellent game!

The Myoko is a very versatile and resilient ship. Just avoid giving broadside, punish the broadsides of other CA's, and spam HE at BB's and DD's (unless you're good with using AP at BB's at the right times). And the torps are great. While not the best arc, they're excellent for a CA

I myself use the ARP Myoko. Better graphics :p

Myoko was indeed the IJN CA T8 prior to 155 Mogami becoming OP towards the end of Alpha.  So WG swapped the two without changing much about either, giving Myoko T8 concealment, T8 AA, T8 turning circle/speed/rudder shift, and T8 range.  The only thing that changed immediately was that her quad torp launchers were put on Mogami instead and she got triples.

Since then Myoko has had her range nerfed by 0.6km (as her dispersion was kept the same it also resulted in a slight accuracy nerf), Mogami has had her range buffed, and both cruisers now have similar rudder shift times.

Ah..ok now I see. Yeah I forgot about that. I only made it to the Aoba back in the C and O beta phases. I do miss the Cleveland from those days also, it was a beast before they nerfed it's shell velocity. I honestly think they should have just swapped the Clevland and Pensacola similar to what they did with the Myoko and Mogami.
