Why doesn't WG leave ships in the Premium shop?

Why doesn't WG-WoWs leave ships like the Sims and Yubari in the Premium shop permanently? The same question for other ships that come and go for a short time.

Does it cost them money to leave them in the Shop?

I would think if all the ships they ever made for the Game (good or bad) would be kept in the Premium shop to make extra money.

Does anyone have a explanation for this?

Best regards,

rustydawg

It means people are more likely to buy them due to being offered for a limited time. Hence more $$$

It builds up hype for the next time they are sold. For example, Warspite was sold for a very short time at the end of closed beta, and wasn't offered for a few more months. Since very few had it and many desired it, she built a strong following, and sold very well when she was finally sold.

It creates scarcity, which in turn increases value, which in turn means you can get more money.  It's a basic principle of economics.

Really? after all they've added to the store and tech tree, people are still complaining?

Call us 3 months ago...when you had a valid complaint....:teethhappy:

According to videos and whatnot (no idea on how truthful, so YMMV), these are the first selections made available again from ships offered back during the closed beta that WG promised wouldn't be sold for a year.

Same reason a few fast food chains have "limited time only" and seasonal only stuff. Think of Old MacDonald on his pig farm. His Faux Rib sandwich is only in the Fall. Boosts sales seasonally.

It also lets them see performance and the like, and make changes if needed. For an example, the gremmy is remaining unsold because they determined it was OP. They decided the scrap the kitakame, too. It's happened with a few other ships as well. "We don't like how this ship is working and we're unsure of how to fix it, so we're recalling and putting it into drydock".

And as others have said, it's mostly marketing.

Ships in can see the marketing for, creating a false sense of scarcity. Consumables like the flags that were sold recently that doesn't seem to make sense for.

Rarity has little to do with the object itself (real or digital) and everything to do with how availible it is.

To have simple numbers, let just say that we put a ship... we will call it the Lowe, just because it will make someone's eye twitch, into the store all the time.

We will say that we sell an average of one a day.

Now we have this other ship, we'll call it the Mustang, tor make more eyes twitch. Now this one, we only sell once a year on groundhog day.

This ship, which may have nearly identical stats to the Lowe will likely see a surge of impulse buyers and sellers perhaps 400 to 500 units because it is "limited release"

TLDR: Wargaming makes more money off of limited edition, so that's how they market things here.
