In the past two weeks the midway hasn't been played once while the hakuryu has over 1000 battles. 2 week stats show 687 battles for Midway vs Hakuryu's 1052. If you actually read the whole comment through till the end he even says they will try not to make them OP again. WG never buffs or nerfs on feedback alone. But thanks to the CV MM, I ran into a lot of Ranger and Saipan nerds on Hiryu, and now it's typically a Lexington. I suspect people are just sitting on a particular carrier and not going up past a certain tier. Now if WG wants more people running CV, gonna need to rework the class and give it more means of handling AA and DF. Pretty much every cruiser I run into brings DF, even German cruisers. But yeah when in ranger you main instant damage dealer is one squad and that is never fun Actually I enjoyed the Ranger. before the AA nerf I was (in my own opinion) doing a great job of keeping enemy CVs from attacking my allies! but when they nerfed the Lex, It's basically now a tier 8 Ranger but with stronger AA and a few extra 2ndry batteries! which isn't too apealing.... Tier VII Premium "Saipan." Because it plays like an IJN CV. if it keeps up with the nerfing of US cvs, they wont be played anymore. if they nerf IJN cvs, people will stop playing CVs all together. CVs are just dying And the "National Flavor" of USN ships is Superior AA (nevermind that not all of them do get that). So, what happens when there are no CVs in a match? At hightiers BB are much more survivable and maneuverable. A small course/speed adjustment means your torpedo salvo misses completely. Closing to point blank range is much more dangerous due to the much better secondaries and accurate main guns at higher tiers. Can BB die to DD? Sure, but it's not what I would call a natural or strong counter. Carriers are, or were, absolutely devastating to an unescorted BB. With the buffs to BB AA and the nerfs to CVs since the game went open beta carriers are much less effective at damaging, much less outright sinking battleships. A BB and CA traveling together should absolutely be a tricky target for CV, but at the moment a BB all by itself will still likely outmaneuver or kill a full carrier strikegroup coming at it.
