26 Chrifister Members 330 posts 4,066 battles Report post #1 Posted June 26, 2016 (edited) I can't decide whether player behavior in high tiers is funny or sad. There's a Yamato on each team and it must be magnetic or something because most of the players on each team followed it, crowded around it, and refused to engage. Not a bad situation for the enemy team because their gunboat DDs took all the caps. Yeah, thanks for that MM because IJN DDs are equal to higher tier USN and VMF DDs. At least some of the enemy ships broke off on their own. Suppose my team had abandonment issues or something. Anyway, what a boring 10 minutes. We lost 66-1000. Hardly any ships sunk and hardly any damage done by either team. I asked my team in chat if there was any reason they were all bunched together outside of the cap but didn't get a response. Game ended with players averaging 500 xp. Wish there was some way I could have quit out of the game without losing credits. Capping once and landing a few shells netted me second place and -7k credits. SS was taken a minute before the game ended. My team sat there in that same position for the entire game. Even after the nerfs is was given a while back, that ship is just not fair to fight against in other BBs
26 Chrifister Members 330 posts 4,066 battles Report post #3 Posted June 26, 2016 I find it humorous but it's getting to the point that I dread playing games with Yamatos in them. Not because they're OP but because I know the teams are going to swarm around them and the game will be boring and no fun.

But usually the crowd that balls up on a Yamato will drop off as soon as said Yamato starts to push. Just from my experiences...
322 Xannari Members 1,360 posts Report post #5 Posted June 26, 2016 It's good that a Yamato has plenty of followers to spread the firepower from enemy ships around so it gets an opportunity to use those guns. A Yamato has very limited function in a small group or by itself. It's when they abandon it that the issues start...

With a proper escort, you'd think they'd feel fearless... I think that Yamato's have nothing to do with it. It's just simple confirmation bias. It's just the mere tendency of people fearing getting deleted early game. Really, if they started sailing on straight lines less often... Well. I guess the smart ones will like the easy citadels and torping deletions.

This makes me rethink getting Shimakaze as my first Tier 10, and just to get Yamato then just so I can use this to my advantage and take the ship-ball with me XD It might only work 6/10 times, but I shall do it none the less and bring the idea of a brawling Yamato to the high tiers! Just like it is at the SEA and RU servers :3 ~Hunter

Doesn't explain why those same people gravitate away from Yamato and towards the nearest island as soon as Yamato tries to push. Works for every single BB in game by the way, not just Yammy. My experience with trying to lead a push with Yamato is that the 'escort' abandons ship and hangs you out to dry the moment they start getting shot at. At which point Yamato is inevitably focus fired down.

To rub salt in the torpedo holes and burnt out hull you get to see everyone escaping with zero damage as you inevitably sink...

You have my respect, or my sympathies, I dont know which yet.. Maybe both.. The thing is, I drive a ship made from tissue paper, whos shells arent even as long as Yammies armor is thick.. If there are no Iowa's in the game, I'm hiding in the back and to hell with stats, because dieing at the hands of a yammy is beyond hillarious.
