14 Cpt_Meli Members 99 posts 5,144 battles Report post #1 Posted June 25, 2016 So naturally this question needs to be asked with the up coming sale for the Sims on Sunday. I have a Blyska already with an 11 point captain and i am having a ton of fun with it. i have a Fletcher with a 16 point captain and i love love love my USN DD line. My overall stats on the USN dd's are decent, and my stats on the Blyska are also good, so i feel i have a grasp of the very different play-styles between the USN and Polish Sausage. Sims is T7. Blyska is T7. first off which ship seems to be better for FUN. i looked up the warships stats and Blyska out-stats the sims on most everything, but they are obviously much different ships. does anyone out there have both and have a preference? is it even worth having 2 t7 premium dd's? So i guess what i'm really looking for is Sims? Blyska? both? let's all assume that cost isn't the issue. I got arrested once for throwing bombs into the ocean. after a little while, the charges were dropped!

(Gremyaschy, Yuubari, and soon Sims) I'd get both. How you go about getting them is up to you.

Had sims for over a year now. Sims is better in close combat with other dd's. But If you gonna to long range snipe, it better to aim for an BB. Since they're slow and it easier to hit them at long range. Better then trying to hit a Cruiser at max range that can dodge your incoming shells more easily

Played my buddy's sims and opted for NOT getting it, but my 15 point BLy is IMO the best ship in the game,,, a game changer a invisible reign of fire and terror...the sims,,,, it is kinda like a very tiny fragile cleveland,, with not as many guns.... 873 [MPIRE] aether_tech Beta Testers 3,804 posts 6,762 battles Report post #9 Posted June 25, 2016 I don't have a Sims, but its similar enough to the american line, that any same tier russian destroyer is going to be a better gunboat. The torps on either the Blys or the Sims are a crapshot either way. I'd always take the Sim's long range torps, even if they are slow. Gun wise, the Blys wins out because of accuracy, fire chance, and range. Sims wins out slightly on maneuverability due to its tight turning radius. I'll definitively buy the sims at $25-30 though. I need a trainer, and the Marblehad is a pita.

110 DedPan ∞ Beta Testers 514 posts 5,264 battles Report post #13 Posted June 25, 2016 As much use as I've gotten out of my Sims, to me the Blys is a far superior ship. The Blys almost feels like a baby Fletcher to me with her nice balance of very effective guns and torpedoes which you can stealth fire and hit hard enough to put a dent in bigger ships. To me torpedoes are is how a destroyer makes its money once the fight for caps done with, and the ones the Sims get just don't offer enough damage to make her a credible threat to bigger ships. On the flip side she seems to be a better close range fighter and for clearing an enemy DD out of a cap I'd rather take the Sims than the Blys, but again once all the enemy destroyers are gone and the fighting switches to chipping away at capital ships, she falls behind the Blys in this department in my eyes. This is all based on my experience in pubs and not ranked though, and it's not to say that the Sims is bad so much as the Blys simply does a lot of things better. Search Blyskawica or Blys and you'll find my concerns......I sold the thing for 3.6m and lost my shirt on the deal. Just tried of all the losing, poor scores and space taken in my port. I'll do the USN Sims all day. You'll need to nuke my port to get her away from me.
71 [ANZ4C] Crucias Alpha Tester 325 posts 9,682 battles Report post #16 Posted June 28, 2016 I do not own the Sims not any US DD, instead I bought the Blys because I love the RU DDs. She has now become my go-to ranked ship and I hunt the enemy DDs ruthlessly in her. The torps are great for spooking DDs lurking in smoke clouds as caps are somewhere in the region of km wide anyway. My only issue with the Blys is I cannot use her high point captain on any other ships.

If that same Kiev gets into a gunfight with a Sims, it's going to kill the Sims then die to a Bly... Kiev comes out on top vs. Blyskawica in gunfight. Faster rate of fire and turrets. I play both. Sims might win at 5 km or less, but beyond that Blyskawica or Kiev both take Sims. I prefer Blyskawica for Ranked because of the much shorter detection range and the torps. The torps are good for area denial and firing into smoke. Total HP is highest for Blyskawica IIRC. Random I play either that or Kiev. Personally, I hate the slow, arcing "let's touch a satellite first" guns on USN DDs. My win rate with Nicholas and Farragut isn't bad but damage numbers are weak. They do excel at up close and personal DD encounters. Playing the Blyskawica in Ranked, I'm wary of Kiev and any doppelgängers. Hatsuhara makes me itch between the shoulder blades unless I see one out in the open - then it's mine. Mahan can be a good opponent but doesn't worry me too much. I was afraid of Sims at first because of its reputation. I don't worry about Sims after fighting them in Ranked.

But it has great torpedos, and its an amazing boat with either DE or AFT. Its fast with a good enough rudder. Its a little fragile, so you have to play it a a bit more conservatively than the other gunboats. I'm still working my way up to CE on it, but I'm sure it will be amazing with CE, better stealth torpedo buffer is great! My current stats are 43 battles at 58% w/r because it really was a turd with a low-skill captain. 48,000 avg damage, 1400 avg exp And with her great arcs she can easily engage US destroyers in mid to long range gunfights and be superior. Play it like a Russian dd, but with superior torpedoes at its tier. I easily outfight most Kiev's and Tashkents - and easily kite Fletchers. The only DD that's a problem is the Udaloi. But the Udaloi is an overpowered monster anyway (and the Khab is straight up bah-roken.)

Interesting, I don't think I've ever lost a gunfight to a Kiev 1 on 1 in ranked, perhaps I am just better at aiming? However I agree about the itch that Jap DDs give you, both Hat and Mut have such low detection range that they are guaranteed to detect me first, which results in the rain of death from the nearby CLs - fortunately most of them suck at aiming. One thing the Blys is amazing at is spite kills - sending torps into smoke clouds as you run away, killed many a Hatsu that way.

8 attackcamel Beta Testers 71 posts 3,995 battles Report post #22 Posted June 29, 2016 Own em both, love em both! I have a huge love for the blys, shes a great boat! But if I were forced to choose...Sims is the winner. She has a steeper learning curve to play her well, no doubt about that. She has been my main tier 7 for ranked with my 15 point captain and the sims is a straight murderer! Her guns are not long range beasts at all, but shes snaeky enough to get close to blys and russian DDs and rip them to hell. God help a dumb cruiser that shows her broadside to you up close... My favortie thing! Some poor Pensicola showed me her side while I was sitting pretty in smoke at 4km. 18 hits for 6 count em! 6 citidels and she sank like a rock! Plus driving her with that speed and manuverability is wicked fun! I love to dog fight with her... She always carried her weight! Can't say I'm a super DD player by any means, but the sims wants me to master the lines! And Ser Davos, I like the short range torps. The times I have been sucessful have been mostly ambushes against larger folks or giving other DDs something to think about! The long range ones are too slow, and too low damage. I want my torps to do more than piss the other guy off when I hit him!

Long or short range trops for the Sims? The short range will get you killed before you can launch them. The long range torps...well, you might get lucky and hit an absent minded cruiser or bb sailing... Then can also be used for cap and area denial. Long range, with one game in the Sims to my name. God its a shity boat.
183 [AA-DS] Simzee Members 979 posts Report post #24 Posted June 29, 2016 I have both. Almost 400 games in Sims, less in Blys but have played Blys on SEA account as well. Both at same tier but play different, use what each one offers over the other. Can build slightly different captains to suit each boat, only issue with Blys is it's a one ship captain. Even though CV population isn't high, with def. AA on Sims you can be rid of pesky planes that want to hang around you, Blys AA won't shoot down much if anything at all. As cost isn't an issue get both and play and have FUN because both offer that in spades. Plus Blys cost only 30k to repair where Sims cost 45k so theres a win right there. 10,399 [B2P] Taichunger Members 13,459 posts 44,054 battles Report post #25 Posted June 29, 2016 Blys, no question. I have both. Sims might be better in DD v DD situations, but damage is steady in Blys, and she has higher HP and better faster torps at long range. Blys with AFT + DE has large margin for invisifiring -- 3 kms or so, while Sims' is very narrow, less than 1.5 kms, as I recall. Plus Blys' better shell arc means that you can meaningfully shoot at ships 13 kms away and the shells will arrive before you retire. With Sims you can hit things out to 15.5 kms, but shells take so long to arrive that it's really a matter of luck. All in all, I'll take Blys over Sims.
