The Ishizuchi is widely considered to be one of the 5 worst BBs in the game, alongside the South Carolina, the Kawachi, the Izumo, the Myogi, and the Mikasa. Some MUCH better examples of premium BBs can be found in the Warspite and the Tirpitz.

Warspite and Tirpitz are not tier 4, and the general consensus on this ship is wrong.

It performs well. This was my best game in it, but it's clear this is hardly a bad ship...

I Think it's the best battleship in its tier.

One of the things I noticed (and like) about Ishizuchi, is that it's range is only 12.5 km on the main guns. This forced me to get in close to engage and when I did it really shined. Of all the battleships I've seen so far, this clearly is the bane of destroyers. I've taken out more DDs in this than any other ship. It's very accurate. Load HE and watch the little buggers RUN. Add to that the secondaries and you have a fine warship. The only reason you should ever load AP is if you are going against a crippled battleship and need a quick kill, or against cruisers.

I don't worry about the torpedoes in this, it's highly maneuverable. It can take a hit too. At one point I engaged 5 ships and took 3 of them down including 2 DDs harassing me (or was it the other way around), all of them focus-firing on me. I have to say I love this thing.

(The other 3 were a Konigsberg, which I took out when he hit the zone wall - and 2 New Yorks, both of which had fires raging when they finally took me down)

Ishizuchi is bad until you realize that using HE and burning everything like a pyromaniac high on napalm fumes is far superior to its AP, which couldn't penetrate its way out of a wet paper bag. Use AP in your 'zuchi, you're gonna have a bad time.

In order to be a good brawler, you need good armour. The Ishizuchi has the same sort of armour as the Kongo and the Myogi, both of which are notoriously easy to citadel, even from range. Good tier 4 brawler ships like the Imperator Nikolai and the Wyoming have good armour. They also both have superior range to the Ishizuchi as well as more guns. Also, LittleWhiteMouse and Lert both agree that the Ishizuchi sucks. If she works for you, then fine, but she is a bad ship without a doubt.

The Ishizuchi, unlike so many BBs has a fairly steep learning curve. But it will shred CAs and DDs, and almost anything other than the Wyoming and Imperator Nikolai you can beat (yes, the Myogi is that bad). So in a T3-4 battle, you can easily dominate the game, if you know what you are doing. If you get in T5, and 6 games, then its going to be very difficult.

Once you learn how to handle her, she's a fun ship to take out and play.

(As for what LWM and Lert think about it, they can be wrong.)

ishi need you to keep angled, dodge and shoot accurately. that is beyond most beginners. Any decent player will do fine in it. . 51k avg dmg over my 11 matches tells me enough. it clubs seals easy. I have to admit that I sucked at NY when I first got it, but I rebought it and doing fine in it. you play it to its strength and it is easier to do well than any DD.

even against t5 (which is highest you see), you can burn down kongos and NYs . the key is getting within range, but most kongo/ny captains aren't good either. its a fun ship once you become halfway decent at playing.
