Do spotting planes launched from Battleships have Rear Gunners?

Hi there:

I notice in the Commander Skills for my New Mexico Tier VI Battleship there is a Skill for "Expert Rear Gunner".  My first thought is, why would it be listed if there were no Rear Gunner, but on the other hand its a spotting plane not necessarily a fighter and I have learned the hard way that sometimes things are not as they seem, and I certainly don't want to waist a Free Skill Point on something that won't be used as a benefit.  Once applied it can't be changed without paying a lot of doubloons for "Redistribution" .  Can anyone give me the heads up on this?

Thank you kindly.  :hmm:

those skills are there more for cv's. The skills don't change between ship types.

Spotter planes do not have rear gunners (they don't attack planes at all), so I would not recommend taking the rear gunner skill for your New Mexico captain.  Since a captain can be trained for any ship of their nationality, they have access to all the captain skills (IE you are not limited on your skill selections based on whether your captain is trained for a destroyer, cruiser, battleship, or carrier).

Thanks for all the replies.  I'm glad I got that clarified before I used up a skill point.  Appreciate it!!  :honoring:
