The Molotov couldn't possibly be that weak in armor could it??? The ship can be sunk with two cit hits from a cruiser. Let's fix the Molotov or it isn't worth running.

Molotov, like anything worth its price tag, takes finesse to play. You are not a battleship and you are going to die if you are full stop and broadside to the enemy. I would say 80%+ people on these forums think that ship is borderline OP.

Yes.... those juicy citadels. 

 

Sank a Molotov from 3km out with 3 salvos from my Mahan. It was glorious.

 

It's a long range ship. Long range guns with good firing arcs, but it has a battleship's rudder. You have to maintain keen map awareness or you'll get popped.

If a Molotov dies from only 2 hits from a CRUISER, it's because it got detonated because no cruiser that it should see has the firepower to do that much damage with only 2 citadel hits.

 

Even the BB's it's likely to face would be hard pressed to outright kill the Molotov with 2 citadels and nothing else.  Leave it a shattered wreck, yes.  Sink it with just 2 cit's straight from full health, not likely.

Any Tier 6 cruiser can take citadels from other Tier 6 cruisers (Cleveland is hard to citadel, but possible).  Generally 2 Citadels plus some additional penetrations, even in a single salvo will indeed delete most Tier 6 cruisers (I did it to a Budyonny last night in my Warspite :teethhappy:).  However, that generally only happens when a cruiser captain exposes his broadside at fairly close range (say under 12 K).  So, the problem here is not the ship, it is the Captain.  The Molotov is indeed very fragile.  That is intentional.  It is the weakness to go along with its awesome godlike guns.  If you get close to BBs or CAs, you will take citadel hits.  If you show your side at all to them up close, they will delete you.  Every time!  Molotov needs to be played from a distance, using your superior accuracy and your speed to kill them before they get close enough to kill you.  It is a high skill ship, but extremely powerful once you master it.  Good luck, and enjoy what is probably the strongest Tier 6 cruiser.:)

I had zero interest in buying it because I thought it would be a squishy mediocre cruiser and I wasn't a fan of the Kirov, well I accidentally did when I thought I was buying the Tirpitz...granted it is only 3 battles but 2 wins and averaging 60K damage. Those guns are amazing and if you combine the speed with some smart maneuvering it is beastly. Just can't get too close because then you're going to have a hard time maneuvering to keep your citadel from being exposed. Definitely turned from a "WTH did I do buying that piece of garbage!" to my new favorite Russian cruiser.

You do NOT speak for "everyone"!!!  I like detonations.  I'm not thrilled when they happen to me, but I *like* the mechanic.  Detonations are a fact of life in naval combat and belong in the game!!!  If you don't like it, go play something else.

Wow...Another one of these... Clearly you're playing it wrong.  The only thing wrong is the interface between the chair and keyboard.

Bow on angled can bounce AP of most CA's
