I'm telling ya, the Gearing is a solid torp boat. 13.2 torp range, 71 torp speed with TA, 104 sec reload, 18k damage.

Solid guns, especially within 10k, a bit 'lobtastic' beyond that. Decent AA, at 56 with AAGM 2.

5.9 detection range (tied with shima for smallest). Smallest T10 turning radius. 3rd fastest ship behind Khab and Shima.

The question is, how soon will they nerf it on us?

Hopefully by buffing Shima's guns a little. Maybe with a second or two cut off the reload time.

If you're going to take away IJN DD's ability to torp stuff safely, give em a little more capability to shoot stuff instead.

Torp ambushing at islands or torp rushes I can enjoy fighting, but from a distance? That tends to bother me. It's more fun for all concerned if the DD kamikazes in and tries to torp someone close by before going down, rather than hiding. But that's my take one how to make the little sneaks fun to play against.

This could become a new meme in this forum.

It's not a meme if it's what actually happens.

What's the reaction time (the time between torpedo detection and hitting the target) on Gearing's torps?

IIRC it's like half the response time on Shimakaze's non-F3 torpedoes. And the F3s are worthless.

What's the reaction time (the time between torpedo detection and hitting the target) on Gearing's torps?

Reaction time, with enemy having Vigilance and Target Acquisition Module is about 9 seconds, compared to the new Shimakaze torps of 14-16 seconds

I completely agree, GEaring is one of the best torp boats in the game.

plus it can defend itself.

People just can't get the need to shoot guns out of their heads.

Still a DD it gets spotted it dies.

Torps for the win.

I havent played the Gearing yet, am still debating on whether to get her or not. Reason being are my DD skippers. 17 point on the Fletch and 15 point on the Benson. The Benson is just too fun with CE to let go and its fun to watch higher tier DD's soil their underwear when a lowly T8 shows up at 5.9 km guns blazing. Its a difficult decision. I really want all 3............

From what I've seen of her, Gearing is a very solid ship in both her torpedo boat and gunboat role.

I give it next major patch and you'll end up with the Sims long range torps on the Gearing.

Oh, you mean the 9.2km ones that take 3 days to reach the target?

They're acceptable if you use TA. If not, you have to think of them more like sea mines, liberally sowing caps and other high traffic areas with them well ahead of expected arrivals.

Yeap. Just to kick the USN in the balls.

They reload on the Sims in 72 seconds, Soooo let's say the Gearing gets a 50 second reload on those. I'd take that combo. 3k stealth window and I get to poop torpedoes everywhere. Sure the alpha is bad, but the flooding damage will make up for it.

Because there is no Russian bias in the game... :P
