Wondering what you all think?

Would prefer to only re-buy one or the other and its been months since I played either.

Thanks!

as much as i love the Colorado, the extra 4 knots of speed on the Nagato i think will make a lot of difference with the smaller teams of ranked.

- my 2 cents

I like (and have) both. I think Nagato is the better ship.

As much as I love the Colorado, the Nagato is better.  Better speed.  Significantly more hit points.  Smaller superstructure and lower profile in the water equals less full pen HE hits and fires.

Having played both, I can definitely tell you that the Nagato will be better for ranked.

Nagato

  • 4 knots faster
  • Much more accurate
  • 14,900 more HP
  • More range
  • Better AP

Colorado

  • Better AA
  • Better Torpedo Belt
  • More maneuverable and shorter
  • Better belt armor

At first glance it seems like Colorado might be the better ship since its tougher and better at avoiding things, but in practice, the Colorado is simply too slow to be versatile enough for ranked. Not to add that its dispersion isn't the best (compared to the Nagato's laser beams). AA is better on Colorado but Nagato isn't very far behind. Sure it has better belt armor, but are you going to go bow forward the whole game while being burned down by cruisers? Not to mention that the Nagato's guns hit like trucks and pen everything. The Colorado's massively smaller HP pool is balanced out by the fact that it has one of the strongest heals in the game, but the Colorado also takes disgustingly large amounts of high explosive damage from cruisers. It's superstructure is very large and easy to hit and gets saturated at a much slower rate than its counterparts. It's one of my favorite ships to farm HE damage against. In ranked, you want something that is versatile and generally good at multiple things, that's why the Benson was so popular. Colorado just has more flaws compared to the Nagato, so I would take Nagato.

Also the Colorado is on sale this weekend, so take that into consideration. It's not a bad ship for ranked, however, I think Nagato is much better.

This^

I personally kinda like the Colorado slightly more (don't ask me why), but Nagato's extra speed will be more beneficial in a 6v6 Ranked environment.

If the fleet leaves you behind in the Colorado, you'll be screwed.

Going against the flow here. Colorado was the BB to drive in Season 1.

The extra speed was irrelevant, given the limited area fought over in ranked.

The armor and torp belt give it enormous damage blocking ability, allowing it to shrug off Nagato shells when properly angled. The Nagato can't shrug off Colorado shells so easily. Torp dodging also favors the Colorado.

I think things will start out with people playing the Nagato, but switch to the Colorado once they find that the better AP isn't good enough against a properly played Colorado and the extra HP means nothing due to the weaker armor.

Countering popular opinion, Colorado. Nagato's speed gives it a kiting advantage, but then you're kiting away from the caps. Given the limited objectives in Ranked, Colorado is just better at sitting in one and soaking up damage while dealing out just as much. It's fairly nimble, too, so properly played you never expose a broadside to the enemy BBs. Stack on all the appropriate flags, spec a captain for it, and you aren't on fire for very long, can heal a lot back, have secondaries out to 7.2km, and have the AA to stand mostly alone against a carrier if one appears in the game.

I'll have both, but will probably use Nagato cuz 17 point captain + 7.6 km secondaries

They're both fine, honestly.  It's a pretty balanced tier for battleships.

Nagato of course, she's far more flexible and less vulnerable to HE than the Colorado. Colorado takes insane amounts of damage from HE because of her big superstructure, and her supposedly amazing armor only provides an average amount of protection when going up against 16 inch guns. It doesn't matter if you have the best heal in the game, as you're too fat and slow to get out of harm's way if you overextend. It's the same reason why the Amagi was the king of BBs in the previous ranked seasons. More versatility and better guns than her American counterpart.

Yea, couple weeks ago we found out that it is supposed to be T5-7 with something involving T10 if you make rank 1

Ranked season 4 is coming? When?

yeah, it is a ways off

Figure if I plan ahead a bit I can play some games in one or the other and acclimate to either. Plus players that don't use doubs for Cpt retraining have time to grind it out.

Honestly I think I would lean towards Colorado, the speed sucks but I think once you play 50 matches or so you get used to what ever direction on the map you need to be at. Plus the armor is awesome and sniping from 18k out blows(and I suck at it:))...

Retrained the 6 point captain from the Tachibana for the Nagato since her captain went to the Izumo and took her out for some battles again today. Forgot what kind of beast she is. Would give her a advantage over the Colorado because of her speed and that her guns seems to hit easier over any distance. Anyway will also try the Colorado in ranked.

I think Colorado would do better, because it's armor doesn't melt to DD sized shells and it's main problem, detection radius, doesn't matter too much in the small map sizes of ranked.
