Dive Bombers

I am sure this is a dead horse...but SERIOUSLY.

I think a good fix would give dive bombers the ability to see if a enemy ship has used its repair consumable or not, because dive bombers depend on starting fires and if the fires they do create are instantly put out, then whats the point. It is alot better option then making the bombs do more damage or anything of the sorts.

Yes... Yes... torpedo first, but I like Air Superiority and only have a single Dive Bomber, and to be honest the CV part of the game is SORELY lacking in the fun department compared to the other areas. Right now dive bombers are a joke compared to torpedo planes.

Im sure someone will say watch the map, but first I am to busy chasing after the torpedo plane hoard, and fighting other fighters and for some reason Im stuck in 2 vs 2 CV battles 90% of the time anymore, so I don't have time to watch when a enemy ship uses its repair.

Just a idea...Im sure some will disagree and so be it.

do your best and take an educated guess for now

If you see a ship that's blackened and smoldering turning away from a battle - well guess what- he's more than likely busted his repair consumable.  If you see an enemy ship that was spammed with HE in the last minute or so - then he should be a prime target as well.  Context clues are king

You can't have all.

From other ship's POV. They will get bomb immediately after they repair, and it will be very frustrating.

I can see your point to some degree, but "have it all"...having 2 Fighters to play chase with, and then also getting a pointless dive bomber who *might* hit something for a pathetic amount of damage, is by no means "having it all". :)

It by no means screams fun and why I can only stomach it for a few games at a time.

Carrier warfare in WoWS is not an accurate representation of reality. If it were you'd take half the map every time as a given with a front line carrier. It's a game play decision given the scale of the combat, and a good one. Carriers replaced battleships in this era for a reason.

To put it in perspective, your carrier is AT BEST 25km from the nearest enemy ship at the start of a match. You should have been 6x that distance away when launching that first airstrike. If you're lucky and your team sucked, you'd get one in before losing the match. But then you're going to nail a couple of battleships maybe a cruiser during that strike.

I imagine the developers in a meeting in early Alpha saying, "If we are going to have carrier combat, there are going to have to be trade-offs" and dive bombers are one of them.

You don't have to take the fighter load out you know! It generally sacrifices damage output for the ability to shut down the other CV... Making it also inherently much less fun.

Take the strike or balanced loadouts at low tier and enjoy your damage potential (at the cost of having to play much smarter in the fighter war though)

Imagine an airstrike with Hiryu's complement alone.

You're talking 18 Zekes, 18 Vals and 27 Kates. According to the scale of combat in this game, that's...

4.5 groups of fighters, 4.5 groups of dive bombers, and nearly 7 groups of torpedo planes.

That's one hell of an airstrike.

I might have choose my word poorly. I mean you can't expect everything to go your way. If limit is there in video game, it is there for a reason, like balance.

Insane! But then again the Sunday Punch packs a hell of a strike as well.
