So obviously with the Shokaku you are a tier VIII and have the same loadouts as the Hiryuu at tier VII with the biggest difference being plane health.  That is all well in good, I free xped the fighters and TB's before I ran out of xp and still have to do the retraining for the captain.  Obviously captain skills aren't as important as they are to other classes for CV's but are still very nice to have and do give a slight edge (obviously talking about rear gunner effectiveness).

But here is where the problem starts, I dont have the xp to get the 2/2/2 loadout which is fine and I am debating whether to even get it.  I often end up in tier X matches and because I dont have the 2/2/2 loadout I get 21 or so extra bombers meaning that I have like 5 more than the 2/2/2 loadout.  Of course against other Shokaku's I would probably get destroyed by the second or even third fighter, but I have yet to fight one.  So should I just keep using the 1/2/2 loadout or rather should I get the 2/2/2 loadouts before I get the hull upgrades?

Also against higher tier ships there are ships that you literally cant attack without losing 90% of your planes.  These would be like DM, Hindi, Roon(kinda), Iowa+, Lexi(kinda), Russian tier IX+.  I know you can kind of get away by attacking Ibuki's but idk about Zao's, IJN BB's really don't do too much as they have like Gearing level AA.  Is there any other ships that are definite no go's for attacking?(Obviously I'm not going to attack a Khab or high tier Russian DD either as they can out run torps and pretty much avoid most auto cross drops by turning and the game wont really adjust for it properly)

Get the loadout before the hull upgrade, more planes in the air gives more flexibility (and at tier X, things like scouting the torp walls are appreciated).

If you're not high-tier, best advice I can offer is follow the main attack group- ships being shelled will be distracted to concentrate aa, will be having their secondaries and AA guns knocked off line by impacts, and the threat of torpedoes and shells will limit their maneuverability so everyone has better hit chances, which translate to wins.
