A-150 as new tier 10 (possibly premium?) Japanese BB

I know that the A-150s were planned but were inevitably scrapped due to lack of resources to build these behemoths. According to various records, there was a wide array of possible weapon outfits, however the most agreed upon would be the following

6 x 51 cm Type 98 naval guns (3 x 2)

? x 10 cm dual purpose guns

6 x 15.5 cm guns (2 x 3)

? x 25 mm Type 96 AA guns

This leaves a lot of room for WG to balance as they please, but this will be a fast battleship capable of reaching 30 knots. And yes, I know if the Japanese get the A-150, then the Germans must get either the H-42 or H-44 super battleships. And the Americans already have the Montana.

This will not replace the Yamato, it will just act as another tier 10 that can be researched (or tier 11?)

This is the most detailed A-150 drawing I could find

Not going to happen, even as a Clan Wars reward, since WG has capped 18.1" as biggest guns in-game

(Unless they change their minds)

Its specs are too good. 18.1in guns are the largest that will ever be implemented plus iirc, its displacement would also be too high. If they were to do this, they would have to find a replacement for the Montana considering it's just not a competitive ship as it is now. Adding something like the Super Yamato would make it virtually useless.

I see no need for this thing to be in the game.

Does that mean I'd complain if it were added? No. Just that I don't see a specific need for it. Yamato's 18.1" rifles already lolpen everything, why do we need even bigger guns?

Wargaming has strictly said that they will not add in ships that are over 80,000 tonnes or have guns larger than 18.1 inch, the A-150 breaches both of that, it will not be added.

Make the Modern Iowa refit as a tier 11 ship first.

Cool looking ship.  I am in favor of the 51 cm guns.  So what if WG has to balance it out?  Isn't that what they do all the time whether we want them to or not?

You can have the Super Yamato if the U.S can get USS United States

What a truly ugly ship, but probably quite the effective one, though the lack of a tower just throws me off.

Poor Montana :(  It has a hard enough time dealing with 18.1 inch shells, but 20.1 are just...painful.

"Germany would need H44, but America already has the Montana so Murica is good."

Ha.

Haha.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA *breathes*

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Because Montana is already >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> regular Yamato, as we all know. So the IJN needs SuperYamato to combat the threat from roving bands of Montanas.

IJN totally needs more OP ships. Tell you what, you can have SuperYamato when we get SuperMontana, a nuclear powered, Nimitz class sized Montana with 12 24 inch guns and guided projectiles, and a VLS for anti-ship missiles in the bow and stern. With CWIS for AA. Oh, did I mention she'll get enough SHP to go 50kts?

Then T10 will be balanced.

Can I get my 20 inch gun battlecruiser then?

I want those on my IJN Torp boat.  Even if it makes it capsize when I fire.. I could use it as a big bat, the gun traversing, hitting them would sinkem.

"Come outside and play gunboats"  "I got something for you"

I dont see them adding a T11  ship anytime in the future or distant future.

Even if they wanted too.  They would need to create a T11 line for all ships.  Which would take some time.

Unless you want to be the T9-10 ship fighting the T11 ship with no same tier counter.

Cmon Montys.  Do you really want to fight the mean T11 IJN BB?

That's the one weakness of USS United States.  It's basically blind.  No radar, no detection equipment; only planes, engines, and a radio.  If it ever were to be in-game, it'd have to rely on its many planes to spot the area around it and defend it, and on allies to defend it from what it can't bomb to death.

As to OP, I too would love A-150 (preferably an 8x2 variant, but eh), but there simply aren't any other possible counters for it, except H-42/43 (8x 19" mains, IIRC).  Of course, it could always change in the future if WG decides to alter overmatch mechanics that would warrant A-150 sharing a place with Yamato at T10 (same for H-42/43).  However, that will simply make the IJN and KM BB lines far more valued than others due to the big guns, even if other lines got a super cruiser or super destroyer or super carrier.

But let's be realistic for now; WG's priority is getting out other ship lines first, then expanding on existing lines.  Only after could we possibly expect something like A-150 in-game should WG change some elements or mechanics around, or feel like doing so just because they can (like the "no Cold War tanks").  Of course, a special exception would be making it an enemy-only T11 or TXX (whatever Tier designation the "space" ships were) we might fight against in some future PvE event.

I honestly stubble to figure out why WG hasn't given the Montana more accurate guns. That'said the one advantage US warships had over the Japanese, accurate guns aided by radar. The Japanese still relied on spotter aircraft to zero in their shots

The A-150 Class would have displaced 71,000 - 80,000 long tons.

As for the guns....they could only fire in theory 1 round per minute

Well, the Yamato class was designed to have it's guns replaced with 20 inch guns in the event the US navy constructed battleships with 18" guns.  But of course, that never happened.

Just give the Iowa it's actual stats and it still smokes the "super Yamato".

Hey, I'm willing to try that balance.  The Iowa had super heavy shells that hit as hard as a 18" shell anyway, so why not give us a weapon that could sink a DD in a single hit, and make a noise like no other.

I assume you're talking about WWII configuration Iowa and no it wouldn't.
