I know, its hard to work on something this hard, only to find out that all that work, design and careful balancing just doesn't work. It's got to be hard to spend all sorts of money on something that you're obviously proud of and that you thought we'd love, but you really need to get rid of the Ocean map.

 

Unless you're playing one of a handful of ship classes, (Battleships, IJN-DDs.) its just not a fun map to play- while the aforementioned classes basically get to sit back and enjoy the complete lack of any barriers to firing their guns/torpedoes off cooldown at every ship on the enemy team, Cruisers and non-IJN destroyers basically get to play the same role as those metal-ducks that are cranked across carnival shooting booths, never able to get close enough to be useful, but never able to get far enough to be safe.

 

I know, you guys worked super hard on the Ocean map and probably put thousands of man-hours of work into its careful design and balance, but it just doesn't work as a map and it needs to go for the good of the game.

Fun fact, the Ocean map was included by the demands of the player base.  WG was against it.

So, players, be careful what you wish for.

 

Me?  I love it.  It's a brilliant map and it's wonderful for how it forces people to change their game play.

ocean should no longer present a challenge, now that 20km torps have 2.5km detection range.

 

p.s. I can't do anything about players on your team not wanting to screen against enemy DDs on Ocean.

p.p.s. Ideally, each team should have a CV or two on Ocean.

Ocean is great, now that they swapped the two-base map for the ABC cap map. It leads to less predictable and more fluid games, with plenty of pew pew pew. I really like it.

As long as it isn't one of those very rare times I end up on the map in the ishizuchi I find that map fun.

Ocean Domination and Standard teach players to move forward as a team with an objective in mind. With lack of obstacles it makes it easier for newer players to grasp the concept that you have to do things together to win. I personally don't think I have ever seen that map with 20km torps. Just a lot of invisi-fire DD's and players that run off on their own.

Ocean... that map WG put in to prove a point that it's a terrible map and now there's a split between the playerbase on whether or not it's terrible? I personally hate the map. It devolves into a sail in a circle most of the time.

I think the strategy has changed a bit since the introduction of the caps on Ocean - the action is much less predicable.

This.  Ever since they went to domination instead of CTF on there, it's a fantastic map.

I seem to be getting that map very frequently on the Atlanta.

Always a burst of enthusiastic disappointment when that happens.

Atlanta Strategy:  Just go where the enemy ships ain't., and enemy planes are.

--- same strategy for using a Hermelin in a tier 4 CV battle.

lol one of my first posts in this forum was a suggestion to convert the ocean map to a ship graveyard map. You know, cause its so bland. Oh boy, what was I thinking? I had no idea that forum members loved the map so much, I received insults and death threats.

Ocean map is okay depending on the ship you pick to use. LWM did extremely well on that Ocean map when i was there. Wish we could see the map 1st then choose the ship we would like to use in it. :izmena:
