  • We increased the penalty for damaging and destroying allied ships. From now on, a player can receive "team killer" status even if they (#1)caused relatively slight damage to an ally. A player will (#2)instantly receive the "team killer" status when they destroy an allied ship

What does this mean? if a team mate sails in front of me and I am scoped in, I fire my guns and I do about 3k-5k damage to him.

Does this mean I will be stuck with the Pink name for god knows how long? for the wrong reason?

If the idiot team mate runs into torps, or I somehow hit him as he is low HP and dies.

Does this mean I will be stuck with the Pink name for god knows how long? for the wrong reason?

I do hope there is a system in place to prevent such scenarios.

Doesn't sound like it at this point, I forecast some epic rage posting tomorrow when it starts happening...:teethhappy:

well, i guess this is what we get when the same 5 people kept crying about team killers.  It was probably related to them and not a large issue. But they sure as hell made it a large issue

A friendly ship starts with 30,000 HP but is down to 1 because of damage.

Your secondaries hit him 1 time for 1 HP, sinking him.

You turn pink.

Except for isolated incidents.  To me the prior issue was about serial TKers.  Which were already pink.  Not sure how this affects this anymore than it did prior to the new patch.

Who Knows, those Iowa bots, could grow up to be Montana Serial Team killer bots    Muaahha! (sinister evil laugh...I think)

I didn't even think about the 2ndary damage. Can you imagine the confusion when someone goes pink for that?

This is slightly concerning to me, since I had an incident of accidentally killing an ally just the other day. It was a Tenryuu; being that they were a maneuverable ship I thought they would be more than capable of turning out of the way; when they continued going straight I told them to watch out for the torps in chat...and they continued going straight to get OHKO'd by the torps anyways. We won that game with only two losses, one of which was like 90% me. x.x Somehow I still ended up with the highest score.

Well, if nothing else, it's a good reminder that you should always assume your teammates will happily derp straight into your torpedoes given the opportunity, and as such you should never give them the opportunity.

Meh. This doesn't concern me.

This.  I'm sure I'll end up pink at some point.  I don't TK very often, but I did tag a friendly DD last weekend who reversed on me.  I can fight my way back to normal status, it's simply not a big deal.

The Pink Penalty does not concern me much since my accidental TKs have been very rare and it might give incentive to those players who are careless to be more careful.  It does mean that Pink ships showing up in matches will not necessarily be serial TK'ers.

Over 1,200 battles played and I have accidentally hit someone with my main battery fewer than 5 times. Some of you thinking of these scenarios where you're zoomed in on a target and fire, not realizing an ally is sailing a few feet off your broadside need to have some situational awareness. As far as an ally having fewer than 500hp (much less the chances of 1hp as another poster earlier stated), they often end up dying in under a minute, as does anyone at less than 10% hp (focus fiiiire lol). Now, I have survived matches at less than 1,500 hp quite a few times over 1200 battles, but never was i worried about being sunk by an errant shell from an ally. It doesn't concern me at all that you may turn pink even after *slight* damage, I'm decent enough of my surroundings and the position of allies vs position of enemies that it just doesn't happen. ever.

This is going to be so very bad as when ships are packed or moving close together they will bump one another. Should have been made for " intentional " damage only. Looks like we will be seeing a lot of Pink ships from now on.

Kinda why it should be common sense to never fire torps if there is a chance an ally is in the way, because then it's partially your fault for taking that risk. Got TK'd by a Kagero the other day because he wanted to torp the enemy Atago next to my Lo Yang and ate his torps before I could get up to speed(was beached). The Atago wasn't even aiming at me and was about to torp him myself but no one ever learns the simple rule of never fire torps if there is a friendly in the path. If a friendly fires torps in my direction and I'm practically dead anyways, sometimes I just eat them for him being the derp lol. So this change doesn't concern me, and for any reason if I turn pink, won't effect how I play until I turn un-pink.

I have said this so many times on these forums.  In 2 years of playing tanks and ships I have, to my knowledge, only been deliberately TK'ed maybe 3 times yet I see weekly posts about the rampant team killing. Why why why does this not happen to me??  When I have observed team killing there is usually a bigger deal going on than the poster who comes on here and whines about it will admit.  Usually more to the story. It is, for me, a total non-issue.  For some it seems to be a huge issue.  I just don't get it and never have. My 2 cents.  I totally agree with what you stated.

I fell victim to the new system in the public test. Accidentally put a torp into a bot, which didnt die. Nevertheless I turned pink.

I was pretty pissed off. But key point is this.... it will lead to more TKing.

Like I said at the end of my post, it's a reminder that even if you think your ally should be able to avoid your torps without trouble, you're still relying on them to do so. Under the circumstances, I felt it was entirely reasonable to expect the Tenryuu to evade my torps; it turned out not to be the case.

I forgot that, killed a teammate, and now hopefully will be less likely to forget in the future.
