HMS Warrior

The HMS warrior was finished in October 1861. The HMS Warrior used both steam power, and sails, sometimes both. Warrior never saw combat, but she was the most heavily armed, fastest, and most armored ship of her time.  I'm assuming the Warrior probably would have had the same effect that a nimitz class has today: when it's in the region, the region becomes calm. Despite its size, the warrior only had 26 muzzleloading 68 pdr guns, 10 7in guns, and 4 40pdr guns.

Here's a picture of the reproduction of the captains day quarters:

I don't think anyone can look at a tallship without respect and admiration for the craftsmanship, and time put into it. they truly are amazing things to see. I once had the opertunity to tour the replica of HMS Surprise (Used in the movie: Master and commander), and that was a very cool thing to see.

I know, I just liked the black and white version better.

but look at the pretty flags @_@

I love the Warrior, those 64pdrs are astonishingly big!!! It is no surprised they could only fit 13 aside when you compare them to HMS Victory's 32pdrs. Also as a comparison, the RBL 7inch guns fired shells of 110lbs!!!

is that the oldest ship floating? :O
No, HMS Victory alone is a lot older than she is, and i'm willing to bet that there are older ships afloat than Victory. (even though Victory is the oldest "active" warship in the world)

HMS Victory is the oldest commissioned warship in the world (laid down in 1759 and launched in 1765) but is not afloat. USS Constitution is the oldest still afloat (Launched 1797) and sailed under her own power on her 200th anniversary in 1997. Commendations to the Americans for keeping her afloat all this time (wish we could do the same with Victory).

I stand corrected! I was under the impression that she was still afloat, but she's been in drydock since 1922. My bad! :Smile_honoring:

Mmmmmmmmmm, Armstrong guns.  The Warrior is actually a playable ship in Shogun 2: Fall of the Samurai.
