This thread may upset those few players out there that feel it's the duty of all allied team members to give the game their undivided attention. My apologies to them.

A few days ago while playing WoWs I had popped in a CD of the old movie Sink the Bismark. Watching the Hood go up in a cloud of smoke gave new meaning to the game's Devastating Strike awards. In a few minutes the movie The Bridges at Toko-Ri will be on cable. A good show to have running while I take out my Ranger or Independence for a few games.

Any one else out there watch these old war movies while playing the game? Perhaps someone could help me out. There was an old movie I remember from my youth. It was about the 3 British CLs that fought the Graf Spree to a draw. Anyone remember the name of that movie and is it available anywhere?

Thanks.

In the boring parts (queuing in battle, sailing in straight lines, launching planes), I often minimize the window and watch iChase, Jingles, heck, even do schoolwork (yes, I get that bored..)!

Interesting thread you started.  I know not the name of the film about the Graf Spee you mention but I have seen several posters state incorrectly that the Brits sank her.  No...her captain scuttled her. I am rather a big fan of those old WWII war films you mention.  Grew up watching them in the 1950's.  HEAVY on allied propaganda which I now in my later years better grasp. The victors get to write the history ya know. The first fairly balanced WWII film (made by Americans with Japanese help) I saw was Tora Tora Tora which came out in the the early 70's when I was in college.  Das Boot is great also.  Just a great film about men in war doing what they felt was their duty regardless of politics and all that stuff.  Gripping film.  Classic.  Carry on. :honoring:

I usually do this when I get sunken, and I happen to be in a division, I usually tab out of my game (fullscreen windowed) and begin watching whatever my favorite youtubers have created, quite the good way to kill time as the battle finishes up. hopefully with a victory.

Yes indeed Tora Tora Tora is a fine movie and for the most part historically accurate. Much better than that Pearl Harbor piece of trash that came out a decade ago. The only thing accurate about it was that Kate Beckinsale would be any sailor's dream date. It's been a while since TTT was on a cable channel rotation so it should be popping up again soon. In Harm's Way just got through with a several week cable run. That last battle sequence could be used for a WoWs promotion commercial and while The Duke wins both the glory and the girl his movie character had an even better nick name, The Rock. Das Boot was a fine movie and came really close to showing fighting men under stress. It did remind me of the movie The Bedford Incident a story of how it's not completely unstressful for the guys up top either. I guess you can find anything on the internet; the name of that movie I was thinking about was The Battle of the River Plate. As I recall it did have a rather British slant to it but after all it did take a heavy set of huevos to take 6 and 8 inch guns up against 11inchers; much like being a bottom tier ship in a three tier game in WoWs.

That Pearl Harbor movie you mention was worse than trash.  It was stinking dung.  I don't know who the "historical adviser" was on that film but there was so much stupid inaccurate crap in it that I almost walked out. The only thing they got right about it was that there was indeed an attack on Pearl Harbor.  It was like a movie made for a 10 year old who had never had a history lesson bout Pearl nor WWII. Heh....for instance the Doolittle raiders did not fly in formation to Japan after taking off.  They flew alone and never even in sight of each other.  It really p#ssed me off that they misrepresented that heroic mission.
