Personally i think WG managed to nail it with the balance, they aren't too OP but they also aren't completely useless.

And the shell ballistics drools

(from what i've seen and played)

clearly you don't have the Budyonny yet....if there were an "OP for it's tier ship".. that is that ship

I don't play them but they appear to be appropriately balanced.  They have some very obvious strengths (range, AA, ballistics) and some very obvious weaknesses (armor, concealment, maneuverability.)  They're probably about right, balance-wise.

The reason I don't play them, though, is that they're boring and I'm a little annoyed that they were developed ahead of more interesting ships that are conspicuously absent in the game's roster.  Who thought the game needed a 4th cruiser line, consisting 50% of ships that were never even built, while we still have only 2 lines of battleships?  I think that was a poor decision on WG's part.  Even on the Russian server, I doubt there were a lot of people clamboring for Russian cruisers.

imo they had to release british cruisers the first or both those lines at once

anyway the next bb line probably comes only after the next cruiser line

do you read what you write before you post what you write??

And if you do, do you understand it, because I am quite sure we don;t either...

I have absolutely NO IDEA what that means in any way....

Perhaps you should PM PL, remember??  Playing the game again?? or just here for info/////

I wonder.........

but regardless  WG releases what WG releases when and if they want to release whatever it is they release.. and whatever they release we play.. or we don;t... we really don;t have much of a choice.. REGARDLESS of what was built first in real life.... after all this is an arcade game that is owned by Russians....so, there's that....

Enjoy the RU Cruiser line and just HAVE EFFING FUN!!! FFS

I think they are stellar examples of WG's ideal cruiser: a gunship that does great against opponents of its own size and smaller, but one that folds under any pressure from larger enemies or a group.  The Russian CAs have very fragile armor but strong guns, and while they can dodge to an extent, that doesn't matter when all it takes is one battleship shell to rip a third of their health bar off: with how bad their armor is, that's a very real possibility.

I've heard that many on the RU server as interested in the same ship lines as the rest of us.

I have not played any of the new Soviet cruisers. They don't really interest me. I don't particularly like glass cannons as a game concept and even though I have a non-nationalist appreciation for naval merits, I have not found any history of the Soviet navy that stirs my interest. The one of them I've gone up against most is Kirov, which is usually leads to me going "... Lunch! :D" and loading AP shells.

I'm up to Budyonny, which is, after 50 or so games, my favorite cruiser in the game now (NorCar being my favorite BB and Farragut being my favorite DD.) My brief thoughts so far:

Novik - It sucks, but all t2 cruisers suck, no one plays t2 unless they're grinding through.

Bogatyr - More St Louis than St Louis. It St Louises so hard St Louis can't even St Louis like Bogatyr can St Louis. Fun ship.

Svietlana - Tough adjustment, but really fun once you figure her out. In the USN line, you go from St Louis to totlly different style as Phoenix is like a baby Omaha, whereas in Russian line Svietlana plays in many ways like a scaled-up Bogatyr, which is interesting in t4. She's fragile and shell arcs are a pain, but she can deal damage, her terrible traverse is partially mitigated by ALL THE GUNS lining each flank, and she has 5k torps as opposed to the 4k torps of later VMF cruisers. My 2nd favorite t4 cruiser after Kuma.

Kirov - Interesting ship. I can see why some people love her, but I didn't. Great guns, high damage, low ROF. Rewards players who are great at aiming and positioning. It's got a high ceiling *if* you have the skill to use her well; if you don't, Kirov is where most players will bail on the VMF line. For me, I'm average at aiming, but I do prefer a high ROF in my cruisers for DD-hunting. Also, she's squishy as heck. You're going to get hammered in this ship if you're not careful.

Budyonny - This is the best cruiser in the game for its tier that I've played. Her guns are a dream; railguns with a high ROF, high fire chance, decent AP, and good range. She's much tougher than the Kirov with decent armor and maneuverability that is passable, her AA is decent, and with demolition expert capt skill you will HE spam like a Cleveland can only dream of. Budyonny excels against DDs due to shell arc and HE, against cruisers due to good AP AND HE depending on situation, and against BBs if you can dodge their fire or have meatshields to tank for you, as with DE she will light your target on fire damn near every salvo. Budyonny is amazing. Budyonny is delightful. Budyonny is the savior of all my hopes and dreams. (If you didn't pick up on it, I kinda like Budyonny.)

I've played the Aurora and the Bogatyr but I don't have much interest in the rest of the line. Having to much fun with the other ships in my port to learn a new line of cruisers.

Boga is a champ

Lana is just ok

Kirov is too frail, the big guns are worthless when your range and armor are poor

Budy is OP and will probably get a nerf very soon

my simplistic $0.02 for the moment

Imo-

T2: meh

T3: meh

T4: meh

T5: meh but interesting in some ways

T6: good, but liked aoba better

T7: back to meh... Turns worse then some of my BBs but has some nice points and I'm used to the playstyle now which is a bit unique overall.

T8 premium: epic fun

T8 normal: I do not have it yet, however I am looking forward to it.

Overall, ships are meh however I am ok with that as they aren't useless amd have a unique playstyle.  I enjoy the line more then I did the German one and I can see myself sailing some of the ships long term.

Once I grind out the Kirov I'm going to wait and see a patch,

Currently t6-t10 seem quite good, with a couple being perhaps too good - worth grinding in the current state but not if they get nerfed.

so ill wait

Tiers 3, 4, and 5 are worth keeping for playing in low tier.  Kirov reminds me of a down scaled down tiered Pensacola.  Strong guns but held to a hull made of paper and kept together by tape.

Tier 6 is probably the best Tier 6 cruiser yet but not overpowered in a way the Cleveland, Nurnberg and the Aoba cannot beat it.   This is a keeper for earning credits.

Tier 7 and Tier 8 are only there for climbing to Tier 9 and 10; there is no point in keeping them if you have the Mikhail Kutusov.

Not for new players but will teach the art of playing cruisers, ships that force you to "git gud" or ship out.

You can throw a yam at the Kirov and penetrate the citadel. Hell just load these bad boys into your guns and see how it gets wrecked.  lol
