1. 2. 3. 4. Would anyone like a Votewar?

Hi All,

 

On a previous board for a different game (Warhammer 40k) which I was a pretty regular poster on we would have quite frequent 'Votewars'. What is a votewar? Well forum users would PM an army list with certain parameters to an organizer, then the organizer would randomly select 2 submitted lists and pit them against each other. You'd vote on the basis of which list you think would have the upper hand.

 

For WOWS we could do the same, basically:

1) Submit a 12-ship fleet list (with restrictions,see below) to me

2) The organizer (me) pits 2 fleet lists against each other, sets up a vote thread

3) The forum at large votes and discusses the pros and cons of each list, decides which would more likely win given equal player skill all around, list owners remain anonymous

4) Tournament progresses in single elimination to an eventual winner who I'm prepared to make a doubloon gift to (if I can figure out how... if it's allowed and if we get at least 8 lists submitted)

 

My idea for simple restrictions would be;

a) Lists are 12 ships

b) 4 ships must be T7, 4 ships must be T6 and 4 ships must be T5

c) Maximum of 5 battleships or 4 battleships and 1 CV

d) Maximum of 5 destroyers

e) Minimum of 3 cruisers

f) You must have 2 nations represented per type (BB, CA/CL, DD not CV) in order to have more than 2 of the same ship (this stops lists having only 3 ship classes)

g) As not everyone has seen all the ships and some are rare, no premiums

That's 4 each of T7, T6 and T5, with more than 1 nation represented in each class. 5 destroyers, 3 BB, 1 CV and 3 CA. - But would this list suffer to a CL heavy list? Is it worth having a T7 carrier? Note there will be no CV mirroring. Do you want to take torpedo boats, gunboats or a mix? Go all cruiser and see if the CV suffers? I've not seen anything like this before on here.

If I took a Nagato, I would have to take 2 NMs instead of Fusos.  Must have at least 1 from each nation.

Edit:   Did this in like 2 minutes.  Just realized that I only needed 1.  Switched the Colo to a Nagato, and 1 Fuso to an NM.

Myoko is a great ship, with her torpedoes, she can prove me to be a good match, I also found the tier 6 battleships to fit in well, since the Fusou, and New Mexico, are both solid ships at tier 6, and even above.

Myoko is VERY OP as a T7 CA. Plays like a T8.

Yep, sorry gang - no premiums, some are well known to be OP and others people I thought just didn't play with or against enough to make a good judgement, whereas the mainline ships are pretty widespread. I've played against a Gremyashcy about twice, my only impressions were 'OP as...' for instance.

 

Happy to get a second list from AutismSpeaks - some interesting take-homes from the 4 or 5 lists submitted as is.
