Also, it's a pretty ship; lots of Italian input in the Kirov's design. No armor protection worth mentioning. Not even angling will help. Every time you get hit by anything you will lose big chunks of health. Tip: Keep your distance and snipe (matches on the Solomons and Big Race maps make this difficult). Avoid getting shot at as much as practical while still staying relevant yourself - try to keep just one or two enemy ships in range at a time. Don't go charging in or you will have a very quick end to your game. Avoid 1 v 1 against battleships, unless they are preoccupied with someone else. Otherwise, your hull fragility all but guarantees you'll lose against him. Overall a good ship but the rather extreme hull fragility is a liability, so keep that in mind as you play. The ship is a challenge, for me at least and I think that's a good thing. Edited April 2, 2016 by slak__

If you're the sort who needs incoming fire alert to know when it's your turn to take fire, you're going to have a painful time grinding to T6.

The ship has good guns but that is about all that is going for it. The Budyonny is good but the Schchors is where the line really takes off for me.

I play the ship extremely agressive, as you can see by my 35% survival rate.. its just a ship that rewards great situation awareness, and punishes you for the smallest mistake. But in the hands of a skilled player, IMO it easily has the highest skill cap of tier 5 cruisers.

Kirov is great at this, for it has excellent gun traverse angle whicl allows premptive angeling, and it has great speed which makes "Keeping distance" very easy. I'm with you there, but neither of us really has the sample size to make a solid case of it: You would expect someone who has had a Kirov-class cruiser in their signature for the last year to make a concerted effort to succeed in it, though! Mikhail = glass flamethrower I'm looking at your stats, and I have to say—you should change your perspective, because you're not getting good mileage out of your VMF cruisers. Predominantly firing HE from a Kirov is doing your opponents a huge favour.

Well I suppose if you aren't able to choose targets well, firing HE is better than wasting a reload. I'm going to go out on a limb and suggest that my Kirov strategy has been paying off better than yours, though.

Last match in Furutaka a Kirov was 13km and angled maybe 30-40° away from me and I scored Cits on two consecutive salvoes. I would never play Kirov for fun. ... Yeah that's a perfect example of how Kirov is like Pensacola. Your survivability comes from zigzagging and dodging the moment someone thinks of pointing their artillery in your general direction. Angling can make you a smaller target for those times when you're already screwed if you turn away, but the way to survive is to make yourself such a frustratingly skittish target that they go after something else instead. Then you whip around and let off six more AP shells at whatever is showing you belt, and repeat the whole process.

Not telling. If you don't like her, sell her and buy something else. But the Kirov & I are engaged to be married. wait...Im also engaged to Koni, Taka, Aoba, Phoebe, Omah, Cleve & Lana

I keep getting massive hits -- 8 of 9 in a salvo -- on BBs and doing no damage whatsoever. I also stopped getting citadels this weekend with that AP. Dunno why... But when she's on, she's really great. The problem is that she's so inconsistent....
