386 XpliCT_ Members 1,051 posts 4,673 battles Report post #1 Posted April 2, 2016 So I just unlocked the Iowa after the long grind through the NC. I didn't hate the NC, but it wasn't one of my favorite ships in the line either. I know I've only played three games in the Iowa so far, but it seems like people at tier 9 and 10 are content to just sit back and do nothing for half of the game. I wouldn't have a problem with this if every shot I fired with the Iowa didn't straddle whatever I was shooting at. This makes me want to close the gap so I can have more accurate shots, but the second I even try to push forward, I get focused by 4 cruisers, and get lit on fire about 10 times. And to just aggravate me, as I'm pushing forward, the three cruisers that said they would follow me are all running away. Is this just tier 9 gameplay or am I just doing something wrong? I would use it more, but a combination of things such as accuracy, repair fees, and the ability to stand up to the Yamoto make it a less than enjoyable ship to play. But then again, I probably just don't play it well, I tend to want to get too close, get focused upon, and die. I am looking forward to the proposed 20% reduction in repair fees to see how that works out. In my humble and less than knowledgeable opinion, less dispersion and the 20 (or even 30)% reduction in repair fees would make the ship more playable. Lot of camping. .Iowa is meant to be a grindwall to the Montana, just as Izumo is a grindwall to the Yamato, it's strictly mediocre, and Amagi at T8 averages higher than either of the T9 BBs. I got pretty tired of the dispersion problem as well (and the gimped shell damage, and the crappy armor that any 15" or high gun can easily pen from any range), so I finished her out in Co-op and got Montana, which I don't play. Next week the cost of high tier games falls 20%. Hopefully we'll see a surge in population and people starting to grind the ships they've been holding at T8. Wondering what will happen when the German BBs come out and shred Iowa. Will the Izumo and Iowa then get long demanded buffs to their armor and dispersion? I thought it was all speculation. And I pray that the German BBs make WG re-evaluate the usefulness of certain ships...

This could have spilled off my fingers since it's the exact experience I'm having right now. I have only played a few tier 10 games and am far from good at that level since I rarely dabble there... I'll get an urge to play my Montana... click BATTLE and there are 3 ships in the cue. Bored after waiting any more than a couple minutes, I go back down to tier 4-8. When I stumble into a decent match it usually plays out poorly... everyone just sits in their corner while shims roam back and forth barfing out 15 torpedoes at 20km every what- 35 seconds or so? Step out of your corner and DDs and Zaos invisifire you while any shot you take at a yamato that is anything but squarely broadside to you (that you can actually land a round on within the length of the ship) is a bounce if anything hits at all. Meanwhile everyone is [edited]about how boring the gameplay is- because it is a mind-blowing waste of 20 minutes. I know I branched off topic a bit making it about Montana- but the gameplay in Iowa isn't any different unless you end up in a tier 7 game somehow. High tier gameplay is just terrible most of the time- long, expensive, boring.

I noticed a big difference between having/not having it. I really enjoy my Iowa and have had some good games in it lately.
