Why do the WG people insist on posting important information in random spots, rather than the Announcement section?

Edited to satisfy IKU's attention to detail...:teethhappy:

Beats me. Would have been nice to know through an official source here rather than players forwarding the info from a 3rd party website. :sceptic:

The actual content being posted, as follows:

RREPteC.png

Adding the "six hours ago" from Imgur, this was likely screengrabbed at about 18:00 EDT 2016-03-30.

Seems to have been cross-posted to Reddit via Imgur. Boyarsky's comment seems to come from a WG styled page somewhere.

[...]somewhere.

There is this:

Just so you know Saipan wont be released today according to info from the comment section for the current event[...]

But I can't seem to find any current event pages on the main WoWS page which have comment sections enabled on them.

First off, it wasn't posted on reddit officially, someone screengrabbed a comment from http://worldofwarships.com/en/news/common/camouflage-faceoff-begins/

Secondly, it wasn't posted on any other forum either, again someone outside of WG posted it

Thirdly, and this mostly speaking personally, WG itself doesn't want everything on their property, this mostly pertains to datamining but also some screenshotting.

So really the thread should be "why is WG making announcements in the comments of their news portal?"

Take as long as they want

Once its released it wont be nerfed

I saw a supertester account with a few thousand battles and a good player, but only a dozen or so games in a Langley and no other CV play, playing a Saipan.    His torpedo bombers were wicked fast, rarely got shot down, and able to vastly outpace the number of strikes the Ranger was delivering.    Of course being new to CVs he missed most of his drops and such but I was in awe of how unstoppable the Saipan had the potential to be in a tier 7 match if the player would have been more accurate.

They certainly need to take their time with this ship and ensure it's done right, I fully agree.

Ah, glad to hear someone found the comment in its original context. I looked at that page and couldn't see any comments; I suspect Privacy Badger is getting confused by off-site comment hosting, it wouldn't be the first time it's choked on WG's distributed hosting schemes.

People who think an official news release of information is an easier thing to do than saying something on a forum have never worked in corporate environment I'd venture to say.

I can send an email to IT Alerts at my company saying Server w315 is having problems sending data files to Server X126 or I can mention that I'm going to send an email to my boss who'll ask for the text and send it to his boss who'll run it past both the windows server admins and the unix server admins to verify veracity and then by the time the alert email is approved the problem is fixed already.... guess which way I pick?

You are correct, just happened to catch it on reddit and posted it back over here...:teethhappy:

But it does make it even odder...Why would you post that in a webpage comment section, and not make an announcement where more people might actually see it?

Well they did over power the navy that got it's butts firmly handed to them in world war two and under powered the navy that did hand them their butts..  Then pulled put in ships that have no place in any world war two game before british and german ships that actually did do more then sit on a peace of paper..

Saipan from closed beta isn't even close to what we have right now (the original standard T6 CVL being rebalanced as a T7 premium CVL). What are you smoking?

Your remark may be justified, but let me ask this: how do you properly effect the USN's massive historical advantages which were strategic in nature into a game which is based upon 12 vs. 12 tactical encounters?

Like it or not, the navy that builds twenty ships focussing on quirky advantages and loses a war with them will translate better into a team-balanced video game than the navy that builds hundreds of ships each suited to clearly defined roles within a well-honed naval doctrine and wins a war with them.

Omg, why I can't respond to a random comment in random place without upsetting someone for not making it super formal and hyper official? :)
