So wargame is not happy USN cvs still good, what they gonna do? Nerf again of course:

  • US bomber planes' chances to start fires reduced. The 500 lb. ANM64 reduced by 10% and 1,000 lb. ANM65 reduced by 18% (Dev Note: The American HE shells caused fires in nearly all cases, it was simply too powerful. The chance is still high, but now there is a larger window to avoid being set ablaze)

because nerfing ~150% fire chances by 10% is a big nerf...

Well, you still have at least one torp squadron that fires 6 torps much more devastating then IJN, and you still have bombs on a totally different scale of damage to what IJN has.  In addition, the HE deduction is rather insignificant to what they buffed it to.  Calculating, calculating.  Nope, not feeling too sorry.

Yea, but when the bombers are the USN's only real offensive measure, and the fact they have a high chance to miss anything but the largest of targets, and cause laughable damage except at the highest of tiers, it becomes a joke that any nerf is necessary.

 

From my understanding US Carriers are very hard to gain any real notable experience due to the fact that shooting down planes still gives a joke amount of exp, and when that's where your ships main purpose lies, then it becomes yet another frustration.

 

I have noticed today an increase in damage from US bombers, that must of happened in a patch when I went AWOL (I only just got back  a few days ago to WoWs), but I'm still not  in anyway worried when I see bombers coming my way.

 

Where as even a single half squad of torp bombers will force me to quickly adjust course, eratic menouvers and force me to put more attention on them than the enemy. Something alot of players who argue back and forth like to pretend to be ignorant on of just how much of a benefit that is.

For those who don't know, the 500 lb bombs have a 156% fire chance, and the 1000 lb bombs have a 198% chance to set fires.  nerfing these to 146% and 180% is still extremely high.

American dive bomber squadrons drop HE bombs that can deal up to 10,800 damage.

Each.

Per bomb, per plane.

And they can land as many as seven bombs on a single target.

And yet, people still complain about nerfs.

For those who don't know, the 500 lb bombs have a 156% fire chance, and the 1000 lb bombs have a 198% chance to set fires.  nerfing these to 146% and 180% is still extremely high.

 

True, but you arent accounting for the anti fire coefficients for the target ships. When i hit a single bomb on midways I only start fires 40% of the time.

You can still take off a lot of HP though...

Use two DB squads, do damage and light 2-3 fires... the target either lets it burn or uses repair and you're free to drop your third DB squad to light 2-3 more fires along with damage.

Probably takes off like 20-40k HP depending on your target.

This I do agree with. Killing planes gives laughable XP for doing it. Should be a lot more.

Thats NOTHING compare in the pass 1/2/2.

 

One more thing its not only you chance to put on fire, have the chance to be on fire so "180%" its not rly "180% of chance" is more like around 40%.

Yes but theres something called armor in the game which kind of reduces the damage bombs do. Your lucky to hit 4 or 5 bombs in 1 drop, and all that for a total of 7k damage. So, most US CVs have to play with fire damage now to compensate their alpha damage being cut into pieces, but once again WG is opposed to the USN CVs ability to do damage.

time for math

 

equation:

[ship's base anti-fire coefficient] x (1 - [Damage Control Mod 1] - [Fire Prevention]) x ([shell's base chance to set fire] + [Demolition Expert])

lets assume the ship is a T10 and has everything to decrease fire chances.  thus DCM1 is 0.05, FP is 0.07, and the coefficient is 0.5005 (demolition expert doesn't apply because doubt a CV will take it)

formula is 0.5005 * (1-0.07-0.05)*1.98 = 0.872

 

current calculation is 87.2% chance for fire, with the current number.  lets change to the new number

 

0.5005 * (1-0.07-0.05)*1.80 = 0.792, or a 79.2% chance to cause a fire to a T10 ship running full fire prevention mods.

 

not sure off the top of my head of any fire chance decreasing flags, as I think this formula might pre-date them (it was published by RU Devs though)

I beg to disagree:

  Midway 10 Aircraft Carrier USA 1,182 46% 87,210 1.1 30.4
  Essex 9 Aircraft Carrier USA 3,037 46% 62,282 0.9 23.7

 

You don't lose 54% of your games with strong main offensive capabilities (DBs on USN)

 

The rest of the line was barely holding it together, this might be a nail in the coffin to secure IJN air superiority

I took 19k+ dmg from 1 squadron in the N.O. while turning with defensive fire going,,,oh and 2 fires set?

Now they lose 54% of their games at high tiers and mid tiers are barely in the territory of "balanced" so how do you justify another nerf?

 

We still have ships like Hak and Taiho nuking ships yet USN some how gets the nerf?

And how much effort did you put in for that damage compared to an IJN CV captain who has to manage more offensive squadrons and do so more diligently to get the same damage?  American DBs manual-drop circles are so big that you could auto-drop and be fine.  Your planes are also tougher and your squadrons don't suffer nearly as much under the effects of Defensive AA, which utterly ruins any attack runs by IJN CVs because the spreads become horrible.  The higher skill floor required for IJN CVs is in turn rewarded by a higher skill ceiling compared to the USN; otherwise there is no point for the IJN line to exist.
