Convince me on going for tier 10

Let me start off with my progress. Fubuki, Mogami, Pensacola, Mahan, and all other ships at either tier 4 or 5. So far with the Mogami and Fubuki play, I do not like high tier matches. I either two volleyed by a BB in Mogami, or focus fired in my DD everytime I get fighter "scouted". Dont forget Shima's torp wall (for the record, I meant to stop grinding IJN DD at the Fubuki).

I do enjoy my Myoko/Pensa a lot and Mahan too. With German CL, I think Konigsberg is the furthest I go. Not to keen on higher tier ones. Yorck/Hipper is food to my pensa.

All in all I dont see why I should go tier 10. Convince me otherwise.

Personally i don't see much a reason either, all of my prefered ships from the war are tier 9 and below. I don't care much for yammy.

How about I convince you not to?  Most of the fun is at the mid-tiers, up to tier 8.  You can run a profit with no premiums up to tier 8, or if you're good: tier 9.  But you have to be a sealord to profit at tier 10.

The only thing driving me forward is the Yamato.  Albeit slowly.

I'm just having too much fun between tier 2(Mikasa) and tier 5... and I don't have much time to play.

But thinking of fielding a Yamato just gives me enough drive to keep playing.

Divisioning a tier 10 CV with a Des Moines and Yamato breaks MM. e.g. generally if there are tier 10s, MM will place all the tier 10s on the same team as the tier 10 division, and give the other team tier 8s.

If you get to tier 10 and division with a partner, you can basically exploit matchmaking logic to give yourself lopsided matches that you win 99% of the time. Certainly a lot of top players are already doing this.

So there's a benefit to you for reaching tier 10.

If you need convincing to do something that is 1) optional and 2) supposed to be 'for fun and entertainment', then maybe it's not worth it for you. Play the ships and tiers that you enjoy, not the ones you don't.

IKR, I would want the Y or Iowa but I suck with BB driving. Looking at Notser or iChase. Tier 10 mostly need premium acct to run (that is on a GOOD game). Comparing to WoT, which if you pull a good game you would pull a break even or some profit on normal acct.

IDK, the upcoming credit buff to tier 8-10 would change this?

To get a Zao and invisicook Yamatos like french fries.

I admit this is my intention. Getting either the Zao or DM (hence mogami and pensa now), but high tier game somewhat are bland and less exciting (I'm guessing people dont want to take too much hit because high repair bills?).

The game needs more T10 players.

Well if tier 10 wasn't such a crapshow from operating costs to various balancing and power disparity issues you'd probably see good deal more consistent activity at the end tier.  In its current state the game kind of peaks at tiers 5-7 where each class and nation has some semblance of comfortably enjoyable balance and purpose between each other.   And maybe more content....but that can be slightly excused as the poor WoWs dev team can only work so fast and churn out so much in a given stretch.

Why are people assuming this is a given? They're thinking about it, and possibly going to test it on dev-only servers. After that, if it's a big success, they'll think about introducing it on live. So it's 1) very uncertain and 2) a looooooooong time off if it's coming at all.

First off, I dont say it's confirmed. I merely ask if it would change high tier play. Would credit buff entice more players to high tier matches?

I saw Notser play some high tier games (and they were pretty good), but when he showed battle summary, I get discourage with it credit generation. Well I guess I am spoiled with WoT economics.

The best ships and it's more challenging. But if you enjoy playing at a lower level play there.

Why people so concerned about costs beats me, the only reason to make a profit is to buy more ships and once you hit tier 10 there is no more capital outlay required.

Midway repair costs can exceed 300k per battle, and that means that it actually takes more than 1 good battle to pay for a tier 10 loss. I agree though, if you have lot of savings built up then it is ok not to worry about costs.

I personally enjoy my Midway, well I did, until the onset of endless high tier bot carriers and tier 10 division spam. Lower tiers are not challenging enough, but tier 10 can be TOO challenging. It's harsh and unforgiving, best for people who like games like Dark Souls or other exercises in frustration (Do you even praise the sun?).

First off, I dont say it's confirmed.

Yes you did:

IDK, the upcoming credit buff to tier 8-10 would change this?

The way you phrased that assumes it's a given.

As for the WoWS economy, IMO it's nowhere near as bad as people claim it is. Yeah top tier ships are expensive to operate, repairing my Yamato from death to full costs 270k and a tier 10 tank only ~30k. However, what people fail to recognize is that ammunition costs are relatively so cheap as to be non-issues, whereas a hard-fought match in WoT can run tens of thousands of credits in resupply - I've had matches in WoT where I spent 70k+ in repair and resupply. Combine that with the fact that a good match in a T8 premie, with premium and a +20% credit flag can easily run 400k+ credits with great matches approaching or surpassing 700k income, and maintaining T10 ships shouldn't be an issue. How much do you make in WoT on a good match with a tier 8 premie with premium account? That's right. ~50k ~ 70k, with great matches earning 100k. So the proportions of income to expenditure aren't that different.

The reason I don't play my T10's much has absolutely nothing to do with their cost, but more with the current meta at high tier, and the fact that most of the people I division with don't have high tiers yet. When I play them it's mostly in coop, and the income there is several times lower even.

Would a -20% repair cost on tiers 9 and 10 bring more people to high tiers? Yeah. Probably. Good players who can carry their own weight and fight well? That remains to be seen.

I never understood the whole hubbub about "Waah waah my tier 10 is so expensive to run waah waah" anyways. Why are (a metaphorical) you playing this game? To earn credits, or to blow up ships with massive ordnance? I know why I'm here. And it isn't 'to make a profit regardless of what I drive'. If I need credits I go play some of my lower tier ships for a bit and have a blast doing it.

Finally, if high tiers were profitable, why would anyone play lower tiers? It's the middle tiers where population is needed most. A healthy mid-tier population helps keep the game alive. Unprofitable economy at high tiers also promotes the sale of WG's actual product, and without that, WG would go bankrupt and there wouldn't be a game.

Tier 10 has such a stigma. 'End game', 'I need to get a T10' ... Hell, the very existence of this thread proves this. OP feels a need to be motivated to get a tier 10. Why? Why not just play at the tiers you enjoy, play the ships you enjoy? There is no magical Tier-10-fairy that comes and gives you an orgasm when you 'finally' reach top tier, there is no hidden steam achievement when you buy a tier 10, you're not automagically 'kool' and 'in with the hip crowd' when you reach tier 10, nobody is going to be impressed with you just for reaching tier 10 ... It's just one of the 10 tiers in the game. The game is not a race to tier 10, it's what happens while you play.

The game is supposed to be fun. After all, it's a game. Worrying about credits isn't 'fun'. Blowing up ships is.

I'm a little confused... You have a total of 2 games on your account and you are nowhere near the ships you claim to have...

Alt account. I play WoT on this account, the way WG sets up forum account. Lets say I dont want the hassle to enter different ID/PW each time forum session expired.

And for the record you can technically do this and wont break eula.

Edit: Mario Gotze to Liverpool? How exciting is that? YNWA.

true avoid tier 10 battles....players in tier 10 battles uniquely play at massive range and the battle is long drawn out. Lots of usless stupid chat this allows ....and many battles end without enemy being destroyed. face very few destroyed. Totally avoid completely ...nothing worth doing. I have lots of fun in my fubuki lol .

I don't think anyone can truly convince anyone to play tier 10, i'm having a hard time convincing myself that getting the Zao is worth it. Even at tier 8, the repair costs are getting pretty high, and most high tier cruiser play is going to be pretty bland because if you get anywhere close to an enemy BB you're going to die.

But i still think it might be worth trying. If you don't like it you can always just go back to lower tiers.

*also what you said about hipper, it's not true. Hipper is the best tier 8 cruiser currently, and if a Hipper captain has any idea of what he's doing, he should be able to beat you in a Pensacola. It's just people don't use AP very well.

Also, i just wanted to add that getting premium is not a solution to high repair costs. If this game is going to remain a truly F2P game there should be a way to not lose huge amounts of credits without spending money.

Well most hipper capt I play against are not that good. But I do meet a few good ones from time to time.

No that's only if you want to play tier 10 exclusively. All you need to do if you aren't breaking even is to have a game at a lower tier, and if you have a premium ship even better.
