Isn't it against the eula to name an account after a political figure?

I just played a game with "PresidentClinton". Isn't that illegal (unless the player actually was slick willie)?

[quote name=

2.23. Any attempt to create nicknames, groups, or organized communities of players associated in any fashion with organizations which violate any applicable laws or regulations is prohibited. This includes but not limited to, direct or indirect references to Nazi symbols, abbreviations and well known leaders.

In other words, "Any attempt to create nicknames... associated in any fashion with...well known leaders [is prohibited.]"

As with most online communities, rules are enforced reactively, not proactively. File a support ticket if you wish to report a rules violation of this form. As a final note, use a measure of caution when posting a name to the forum. There is an unwritten rule that naming and shaming is prohibited; posting a name in conjunction with anything negative is subject to censure depending upon moderator opinion that day.

I am pretty sure it is talking about well-known leaders of the Nazi party and other such organizations that might be illegal in places where their playerbase resides.  So I think naming yourself Adolph-with-an-F Looks-kinda-like-Butler might get you a no-no slip and a free name change, but Bill Clinton is probably not an issue from the game's point of view.

Ah you're right, I'm sorry. I read that wrong, that rule pertains specifically to entities which are in violation of laws or regulations.

Hmm. The closest rules I can see are 3.05 (assuming the reference to Bill Clinton is both implying nationalism, and has the potential to offend a national/ethnic/religious group), or 3.14 (if you consider Bill Clinton's status as a political personality to be negative in nature). This looks like grey area to me, barring some other applicable rule I have missed.

Thanks for bringing this to our attention. We will check into this. :)

American carriers nowadays are named after presidents (sans USS Jimmy Carter, a submarine) and some people do name themselves after ships. I would say that this is a gray area as well.

I was under the impression it was illegal to name yourself after any person from history or current events also.

RIP every single guy who named themself some form of Patton, Guderian, Halsey, etc.

So there are no other people named Bill Clinton in the world? You understand how many people have the same name... maybe he is talking about some bill clinton who is a donut shop owner in florida? Or a forklift driver in Seattle?

Yes it's against the eula but they don't actively enforce it unless the person is reported.

The Trumpeter is scarier!

o pls

It seems silly that there'd be a rule against having the same name as a famous person.

Indeed, in this kind of zone, it can be interesting, since it might have to even come down to the situation for each player, and what they pick as a name, instead of a broad rule.

it really just varies from name to name o3o, since names can take various meanings from name to name.

They don't discuss resolution of rules matters that affect specific players, but if you search the stats for the name OP mentions, you'll find that player #1019218270 has not been renamed.

I happen to be "OP", but I should have thought to searching for him myself.

You're right. That player has NOT been renamed.

Not that I payed attention to that when I wrote 'OP', but we can just say it stood for original post in that instance, rather than original poster.
