385 steelreserv27 Members 1,049 posts 2,585 battles Report post #1 Posted March 28, 2016 (edited) is why the Phoenix is still king. (of the Cruisers) This review will discuss the static gun layout and how that improves the ship's offensive capability; it tests how many rounds a Phoenix can fire doing a 360 degree maneuver and pits its AP shells at close range against other ships of its tier, to simulate a "you or them" close quarters engagement. Ship Review: Phoenix *please forgove some of the audio mixing during the gameplay segment. Some hardware upgrades still require some tuning. Other than that, enjoy!* Edited March 28, 2016 by steelreserv

It was one of the early ships I got in my career, and sold it (kept Kuma) over 10 months ago, when I got Omaha. As cruisers go, I like Kuma better and am now testing Svietlana (not bad). Might have to get Phoenix again for a second look.

I have a kuma review about ready (which may be interesting for comparison purposes) but this may be "the week of the Kirov" on sttelcast27. History & review. Kuma's torps and solid AP make it worth taking, even if it has minor disadvantages in other areas.

(It doesnt see T6 does it?) Does fine against most T5's it's weakness is sustained air attack. It does see T6 and does okay depending on the map. T6 cruisers are juicy xp pinatas. This is my craziest imperator kill battle so far with t5-t3 in the match. Edited March 28, 2016 by RipNuN2

I think ppl have a soft spot for the Kuma. It certainly is good if played well, but you can see the results from the Phoenix above. Of course I have the advantage of knowing the results of my Kuma testing which I haven't released yet. Lol

It does see tier 6. If it didn't, I'd probably average 85k damage per game in that ridiculous ship. I don't think it even does all that poorly against tiers 6s (except carriers), but the map selection of tier 6 games can limit its damage potential. Make the wrong choice on Two Brothers and you're out of the fight. Edited March 28, 2016 by Mesrith

But I really didn't give the Phoenix much of a try starting out as I blitzed through it to get to the Cleveland. I may have to pick it up again solely on what you've shown in your excellent video. And don't go showing more bias for Russian cruisers than is already in the game! Stick to the plan and review the Kuma!! But whichever you do I'm gonna watch it. Thanks again for giving me a good look at the Phoenix.

They were supposed to work with DDs as squadron leaders, and so had to operate like them, but bigger.
