I say farewell to the Kutuzov tonight.

Honestly, this is just a random post since i'm really lacking much to any motivation at the moment and i'm trying to keep myself going on some manner. Between undergoing a car-wreck that left me in the hospital for numerous days in a pretty critical condition with internal bleeding, several broken bones, lacerations, and epidural hematoma, I also lost a pretty hefty chunk of my funds, which I already have a consistent issue with money as-is, having to attend college for medical classes, manage numerous bills and affording groceries..I had saved up a good chunk of money, but the wreck kind of sapped every dollar I had, and now i'm..With taking a loan out for 500 (thankfully), i'm only 483$ away from affording a replacement vehicle of equal value or getting this old, Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme repaired (this thing is a total mess of old-age and unreliability, between replacing the Timing belt and not starting up properly). Thankfully, even though my car insurance as bare-minimum, my medical insurance has always been great, so medical bills were easy to manage and nearly completely covered.

 

Needless to say, the Kutuzov was a ship I was waiting and waiting to arrive -- And it did, at the worst time possible! Since all my excess funds are going towards getting my junker fixed or replacing it, I can't acquire it like I had been waiting to. So, bad timing has done me in this time -- But I guess maybe i'll get lucky and it'll be released..SOMETIME again soon for availability (Who knows how long that'll be). Either way, this is just me venting as best possible while I'm forced to sit at home recovering, luckily on paid leave from both jobs for just enough hours to manage bills/groceries/necessities until I'm able to begin working again (and probably overtime, at that).

 

So...Farewell, Kutuzov!

 

Well..Through an anonymous (I won't speak his name because his intent was not for publicity and it was more for the sake of being a good person) gift, I was given the Kutuzov.

 

I really want to thank this person, and everyone who gave me their best wishes, and ask that you all do the same and thank each-other for being incredibly thoughtful and kind, caring folk.

 

Here was what he told me at the end of our conversation:

 

"I...I didn't do this for publicity. I did it for you. It wouldn't hurt me or my ego, no, if you said that. I don't want to make people feel bad by my decision, I just did it because it's what I expected of any other Captain out there. World of Tanks used to be like that, you know. It's up to you. If you feel the need to truly say something, and feel it'd be bad to mention names, you can just say "someone" did. That's fine too.

For the sake of remembering the community back then when I was on World of Tanks, and seeing it stretch to Warships, I hope you all give this individual a salute.

Thank you Mouse, do appreciate the condolences. Luckily i'm a stupidly fast healer, so the only thing left to recover from is the busted bones. I was finally taken off hemo-coagulants last week. So now it's just patience until I can actually lift stuff for work.

I'm kind of in that understanding as well, and not. Sure, it would delay me getting my car by another two weeks, but luckily my friend Cody is willing and able to get me transported to my campus for my classes since we both attend there. I could've definitely found some positive enjoyment from having a ship I had been waiting for since I didn't have access to it prior due to my heavy work schedule, but I can settle with at least being healthier at this point. I can't tell you how uncomfortable it is getting up out of bed each morning or doing dishes, it kinda sucks. I definitely could've got the ship if the incident didn't occur! Just would've been a little more behind on the car. At least I'm lucky enough to get a tiny loan without major interest on it.

True.  If the ship is sold a second time, that means the ship has passed a delicate balance test that WG can issue enough numbers of them in the game confidently without balance disruption.  In time it will be sold again.  

 

This is not like the Nikolai which won't be issued again because the ship proved to be overpowered (although its hard to see why in paper).

I do. But I had been wanting the Kutuzov for ages because I'm mainly focused on Russian-DDs. And the Murmansk is broken so I hate abusing it. oh well. Better luck nextime!

Haven't made it to the Budyonny from what I can see from the port screen looks similar and at a much better tier and key, free.

 

Always thought C hull Benson with defensive fire was a lot like MK also, play the start of the match playing support and as the battle progressed lean towards the destroyer role.

 

Regardless real life is more important than pixel ships, there is a TON of free content in the game take advantage and get well.

I never really had interest in the Nikolai. Legitimately imbalanced ships aren't something i'm truly interested in since I feel it dampers the server balance and causes more trouble than good. I know it's a good ship and all, but -too- good of a ship. Kutuzov..Nice little unique russian cruiser with the strengths and weaknesses of the russian line. But yeah, I do suppose the Kutuzov will eventually be back. At least I hope.

My main purpose and interest in the kutuzov was the uniqueness of it, design (my uncle researched and built military ships long ago, and he had always liked the look of the ship and the build of it), and that it was particularly a ship I wanted to get for a trainer ship for my russian DD captain.

Yeah. They reduced the impact it had with the BFT and AFT changes. I was glad they did. The ship is still way superior to it's in-game comparison and the marblehead, though..By far. With..I'm unsure, if the torpedoes are historically accurate.

Battleships don't need a trained captain, really.. at all. Meaning they make GREAT trainers for commanders, plus DD captain's in a Battleship are a blast. Also worth mentioning the Nik is at a more conducive tier and over half the price.

True, they don't particularly aside from torpedo detection range. But then the issue holds up that the Nikolai will deeeeefinitely not be seen in a long time, maybe if ever..The thing is superbly strong and kinda imbalanced!

The tree ships from 6 to 8 has the same guns.  The Tier 8 ship, the Chapayev, is the direct predecessor to the Sverdlov class which the Kutuzov belongs to.  The Sverdlov class can be regarded as an improved subclass to the T8 ship.
