don't charge any cruiser with sub 200mm guns and also no cruiser with 200+mm guns and also no bb.... don't charge, imo it's a bad tactic, but against any light cruiser it's especially suicidal

The only time you charge is when you've already made a terrible mistake that has resulted in you becoming pinned into your smoke because either there's a plane parked on top of you, someone activated hyrdo-acoustic, radar, or some other stupid spotting mechanic in the game that gives people a direct line of sight that they otherwise wouldn't have without the common sense of any true accuracy penalty and you got so focused on your stalking that you haven't noticed that your cover fire has ditched you again because they don't know how to angle their ships.

 

Otherwise, avoid charging anyone. Don't even charge at other DDs. If you don't end up eating shells, you're gonna end up eating a torpedo. Be patient and if you don't get frags this game, you don't get frags. DDs aren't supposed to have good stats.
