On braggarts, liars, and armchair admirals

So, we all run across them. Those guys who won't shut up about everyone doing exactly what they think everyone should do. And we all run across those other guys. The ones who spend the whole game bragging about how they are so lolpro and they would be playing their Yamato or Montana but it's still waiting to come back from a battle, when 95% of the time if they're bragging that way they don't own anything higher than the ship they're playing. Often, the two are combined.

But this morning's example was particularly hilarious. Load up my North Carolina, get queued into a t6-t8 standard battle on Two Brothers. Me, a New Mexico, and a New Orleans go west. The New Mexico immediately starts talking about how he's only in the match because his Montana and Iowa are both still in battle and he's only 10k away from Yamato, which instantly throws a red flag up in my mind.

Enemy Fuso, Cleve, Mikhail, and Mahan are coming west. I citadel the Mikhail twice as he's sailing straight-broadside-on to me, kill him. Mahan ducks into west islands and the New Orleans is staying well north of both me and the New Mexi...he was no help at all all game. I come about, intending to continue pushing but move closer to central islands where I have open water and can use my fighter to spot the Mahan if he gets close because I'm not going into islands to fight with a DD unless I have to with no cruiser or DD support of my own, and the New Mexi starts telling me to go into islands and being super overbearing. Mahan pops up out of islands, I snapshot at him and hit for a 9k dmg roll (luck more than anything else from 9-10km with NC dispersion against a maneuvering DD...pretty sure that's my highest single salvo dmg ever against a DD when I was firing AP. ) Mahan disappears again and I continue engagement with Cleve and Fuso.

Mahan pops up and torps the [edited]out of the New Mexi, but New Mexi kills him in return. I send "nice" over chat, because courtesy and because that meant we could go all the way to their cap with nothing to worry about but the Cleve and Fuso (who were both pretty decent shooters, esp the Cleve.) He replies "yawn, amateur, low-tier players." lol, 2nd red flag. 

Long story short, we wrap up game, I miss Kraken by a second (4 kills, was a second away from a salvo landing that would have been my fifth when someone else got him instead to end game), and look up his stats out of curiosity. Remember how he was bragging all game about his Montana, Iowa, and 10k away from Yamato? Well, he had an Iowa, but that was his only tier 9 ship...all of his battles were in the USN BB line except for t1 cruisers and a little-used Anshan, no Montana, and no IJN BBs, not even a Kawachi. So you just spent all game bragging about what a lolpro you are in between trying to tell me what to do, when you're nowhere close to the Yamato you said you were 10k from and don't have a Montana, and only have average to below average stats in the ships you do have. (Admittedly, I have average to below average stats, but I don't claim to be pro or claim I have anything higher than my current ships.)

 

 Also, 100k dmg, three citadel hits, and a fireproof badge for some flags...not a bad way to start day.

OK. I didn't name and shame him. But I'm glad to know that finding amusement in someone else's idiocy is more wrong than being dishonest. Thanks for the lesson in how to correctly make a value judgment.

Courteous players are always the best. In my last match w/ Zuiho, I felled the enemy Fuso that'd just gotten kraken and apologized. He said all good, he'd had his fun. He actually laughed when I got Kraken 2 minutes later after an enemy Kuma got too close to my secondaries.

lol reminds me of a coworker. He drives a raggedy old Corolla to work with the bumper tied into place but he brags nonstop about his beamer. Its been 4 years and we have yet to see the stupid BMW. I made one post (one post is, by definition, not spam) because it amused me, and you've been butthurt about it enough to go back and forth about it for multiple posts. If I sounded frustrated, then either I'm communicating poorly or you're comprehending poorly since I stated clearly I thought the whole thing was hilarious.
