According to this thread on the RU Forums, WG will conduct an experiment by reducing repair costs of tier 8-10 ships (not including premiums) by 20%. It will allow most players without premium account to play at those tiers without losing money. If the experiment is conclusive, they may change the economy at those tiers. Mind you that this experiment will only last during the month of April.

hell yeah, time is coming to drive Taiho again :izmena:

Interesting.  Since the in game economy model since the early days of tanks was to make tiers 8 and up expensive is so players would go back to lower tiers to earn credits.  If that goes away, WoWS could be the 'race to tier 10' and and no one plays the lower tiers.  That would be a shame.

i think there would be a vast difference between making tier 8+ play self sustaining, aka you make as much as your service/repair bill is, which this seems to attempt and making it profitable and making it a 'race for tier 10'

Since you still need to buy the ships and mods, premium consumables etc. people would still play at lower tiers for that. In addition to that, things like flag farming (looking at u AS Bogue) and the closer and faster paced combat of tiers 3-7 will keep enough of the playerbase from only playing tier 8+

I doubt it.  A lot of people play warships to play a certain ship due to preexisting favor for her history/design/use in certain media, such as someone keeping and playing the Kongo or North Carolina as examples.

A 20% reduction in repair costs will probably bring things more in line with how the high tiers are in World of Tanks. A decent match there doesn't make much profit but it doesn't bleed red either. WG is probably hoping too to loosen up the high tier camping meta a little.

Will be interesting to see how it turns out, hopefully the experiment will be a success, and will lead to a better economy for high tiers.
