... or the last battle I will ever play using custom crosshairs.

Honestly I have tried for my last 14 hours to play with custom crosshairs. the ones I specifically selected was the pro scope from m0nster4x. I was initially attracted to the extra lines which I assumed were going to provide extra assistance in drawing predicted enemy movement patterns but honestly all its turned out to be is extra clutter on my screen that I do not need.

So right off the bat, the enemy team had a Ryujo and an Independence, and my team had 2 Ryujos. I should have known it was going to be an interesting battle. The enemy carriers were not talkative, but boy they sure had a thing for me. In my New Mexico without AFT or AA range boosts, I was shooting down planes in what felt like was a scaled down North Carolina. You will never guess where both the enemy carriers turned out to be? yeah thats right- they never bloody moved the entire friggin match. it was actually very stereotypical of carriers- which explained a lot about how it only looked like they bothered with manual drops for torpedos but in no way excuses their poor play

anyway- the replay- for your viewing pleasure:

WG seriously need to make it possible to get clear skies in battleships- not by buffing AA further- but by making the requirements more lenient for non-carrier classes

what custom crosshairs do you guys use that are easy to read like the vanilla ones, but do not add extra clutter to my screen?

Frankly, I've found the vanilla cross-hairs to be perfectly adequate. They're minimalist and provide you with actually relatively useful meter sticks that you can snap to, and then adjust from on instinct.

thing is- I got sick of my instinct telling me to shoot in the direction I think the ship is going to turn in and then finding out they were turning the other direction. its a wasted 33 seconds in the New Mex, 25 in my Yammy, and 30 in the rest of my battleships

I like the default crosshair, custom ones trow off my aim .

Usuallly i zoom max then unzoom one time.

And for the Clear Sky ,

The new cirteria to get one sucks and i saw many of them from Bogue and Langley but it's strange to see a Lexi with 90 planes shoot down and no clear sky or a BB with 40 50 planes shoot and no achivment

Same for me .       As too 'Clear Sky's " I DEFINATLY agree !!!!   I would like to be able to get it again in my Atlanta ( it is what she is for )  again . I have two with her from before the change ,, one with 53 kills and recently got 62 kills but did not get the achievement ( clear sky's ) even though it was a battle with only one CV per side .

I never got a chance to get a clear skies before it had its requirements changed, but I can understand the change for carriers, since carriers can actually chase planes, other ship classes simply have an AA curtain that decides how many planes will die inside of it, so we have to wait for lots of planes to come to us

Sounds like we need 2 Clear Sky achivments ( one for CVs and one for other ships ) or to get back to the old one

I think the old one was a little too easy. I would probably lean towards non carriers having to shoot down 30% of enemy planes with a minimum of 20 planes shot down. that should be challenging enough but not impossibru

Scalable crosshair.  It's just a line with ticks and I adjusted the color with the RKI editor so that it's less distracting.

I did try scalable once, but it didn't seem to scale properly for me and my aim always seemed sporadically off using it

That is why I look at the mini-map - just to make sure.  Sometimes difficult to see in the mini-map but the vast majority of the time I use it it is worth it.

Yeah, I have those moments too.  I've been blaming it on latency making my shots land late or early since the ticks themselves seem reasonably steady.

I like that one the best, great when firing max range in my USN DDs. Allows me to unzoom, scan the area and go back to firing where I left off instead of trying to sight the guns again

With the proscope cross-hairs, I couldn't understand the distance between long ticks in relation to shell travel time, which only got worse when I was trying to count up the diagonal lines. It often lead to me giving too much lead on faster moving ships.

I've found that all crosshairs need some getting used to...I think that their ticks are placed at different spots.  You can't just jump from one crosshair to another without having to relearn which ticks to use / readjusting it.

Heck, the stock crosshair fulfilled my purpose just fine until I increased my window resolution.  All of a sudden, what filled the whole screen only took up half and the ticks were spaced really close together too.

I use the one by Art from Aslain's pack. Reason is not extra lines, but longer horizontal line and it being easier to read (would love to have numbers in a more distinctive color than white though).

Wait,   we have cross hairs that predict enemy movement?

No, there is one out there that has lots of angled lines though, which look like they make the job easier, but in practice, it was too much extra clutter

Try Green Lemon, by Bowser. Very simple. Rough estimate for fully zoomed shots at medium/medium+ range is BBs are half your ALT, cruisers are =, and DDs are double. It varies a bit obviously, but I think it's decent.

I usually just glance at the mini map quick and get the needed information I need

In one of FAQ recently they said that Clear skies is staying the same and they don't want majority of the achievements to be "farm able". Its not like they don't limit the flags rewards 1 per day already I don't see why certain achievements couldn't have lower requirements.

I mean no player logins into wows to just get earn there daily achievements for flags and then logs off.
