Started out good today sinking a full strength Fuso by sneaking up from behind and torping the hell out of him with my Clemson. Next game catch a Wyoming in the Solomon gap and sink him with 6 torps but over anxious friendly destroyer torps me to death from behind. Then two games later a cruiser behind me shoots 3 torps into my Wyoming while I'm battling another Wyoming again on the Solomon map at north end. Hope the rest of the day isn't going to be like this! LOL

I once torped a friendly in the back and I was embarrassed beyond belief.  I apologized and sent a PM after the game apologizing again.  The only good thing about the experience is that I have never repeated the mistake.  You can only hope that the "friendlies" that torped you will learn something from it.

I find that cruiser captains are the worst with torps and the most unapologetic about it when they hit you. I've been torped in various DDs from less than 3 km and they expected me to get out of the way while I was actively engaged with a ship...smh.

I try to warn others if they stray into my torps path or if they are blocking a launch I will ask if they can move in a certain direction since my torps hitting means they live longer. Alas, most just fire indiscriminately, with no warning or care. Then don't understand why you're upset about their poor sportsmanship.

Ugh, I just remembered an Atago...it was like he wanted us to lose or something.

with friendlies like these, right?

i think they need to start giving a warning indicator if there's a friendly either in the vicinity or on a collision course with where you intend to launch your torpedoes. and then if those torpedoes that were fired during the warning connect with a friendly, there need to be more severe penalties to make them learn not to do it. there are still a lot of people out there who believe it's the job of the ships in front to move out of the way of their torpedoes.

this happens far too often, and most are repeat offenders. but the most that happens is they turn pink for a few games, and they're more careful.. until the pink wears off.

I too had to wear the badge of shame accidentally hitting a friendly. I felt like a complete jack a$$. I've since reviewed all tutorials and blogs on the issue and vowed never to let it happen again. I wonder if WOW should impose a mandatory training session before you are allowed to have torps. I know this may not serve everyone but it would have helped me as my incident was from pure ignorance...

I've occasionally nailed friendly BBs who were just moving forward without a clue or veered into my torps, even after I've announced what I'm going to do. My worst experience with friendly torping was nailing an allied DD. I had announced where my torps were going and he didn't even try to alter his course. One of torps hit an sunk him (this was before friendly torps only did 50%) while the other five slaughtered the Fuso I had aimed at. I immediately apologize and he starts verbally abusing me, saying that I was a noob and a [edited]teammate. As side note, he'd been much closer to the Fuso (literally point-blank), which hadn't altered it's course in the slightest, and every one of his torps missed. I think we know who the real noob was. Of course, I haven't hit an ally with torps since.

Mistakes do happen (at all tiers).  But, I think Cruisers (in general) tend to be the worst.  I've experienced too many events where they hang back, fire torps thru the DD's, and don't give you a warning.   I've had to alter my course to avoid friendly fire and present my full flank to the enemy.  Either way, blurp, I'm gone.   I'm always watching the mini map and my buddies and trusting no one.   But, we all tend to just be in our own heads too much and playing semi-solo games instead of team games.

I play cruisers, Destroyers and Battleships, I have torped one team member once through mistake , I was not paying attention and they came from around an island after I fired off my torps , and straight into them.

I have been torped on numerous occasions though by a DD or cruiser, and once by a Tirpitz on my team. Most of the time I can put it as an accident , then you have the times like earlier this very day, when I ate a double salvo of torps from a friendly DD in one of my BB's, He had run into me, I veered off and was trying to keep an angle on the BB I was fighting, he turned and got beside me, and tried to fire through me at the enemy BB.

Man did I rage, especially when he said, you should of gotten out of my way.

I've sunk a friendly with my torps once and been sunk once as well with friendly.

It's an easy mistake to make as a new player.  The penalty was almost no earned credits for that battle.  Probably should be higher such as automatic zero credits earned and you certain amount of credits and experience is taken from you and given to the victim.

The lesson learned was to never never, never, never shot torpedoes when you have a friendly between you and the enemy

A couple nights ago I took 3 torps from friendly cruiser. I don't anger easily, I wasn't mad at all but the cruiser captain felt so bad that he could not stop apologizing, he even wanted me to torp him back. LOL

That's how I felt when I feel the mistake was my fault. When I get hit by allied torps I just consider it part of the battle and new guys learning how to fire torps. But in the heat of a battle it can happen to anyone. The other day a  guy called me stupid cause I fired my torpedoes when he was close by but I knew they wouldn't hit him as I had him and the target in my sights at close range. I shrugged it off as some players get angry and take the game far too seriously.

Huh, this is interesting, because I can never remember ever torping an ally, although it's probably because of my tactics. When I torp, I always get to 2.5km or less and broadside at 1km unless I'm taking heavy fire...however, I still shell people on accident occasionally when I'm looking above my ship and don't realize an ally is right in front of my guns because of my binocular view...it's never happened at a tier over II for me, but still rather embarrassing for me. I think something has happened to everyone, I've dodged many, many torps from friendly IJN DDs and CCs, they seem to be the worst with it, I guess it's because those are the first routes newer people seem to take.

I rarely have an issue torping in a DD as I like to be well in front of the main fleet and don't like to be near another friendly DD (too many times they have opened up with guns and scared my pigeons before my torps have arrived!).

Two times I've hit a friendly, first mistake was torping around an island and a friendly DD turned right into them before I could type a warning and the second in a Kagero I launched from one side of two brothers hit the enemy BB with 3 torps who was in cap and the rest carried on to the other side of the map and where 1 hit a friendly. I was sorry about the first and now type a warning first if it is going anywhere near a team mate but the second I wasn't too concerned about.

As for other friendlies dropping torps I have lost count of the times I've had to dodge and have been hit quite often.

I only get upset at two scenarios, where I have to dodge multiple launches from the same clown and when (usually) cruisers launch their torps 10km from the enemy and their range is 5-6km, Just enough to make me have to take evasive action.

I've  come close with the Mutsuki.  Longer Range slower torpedo's makes for a learning curve when reading your allies movements and intent.  Closest was a few nights ago, got target locked on an enemy BB who had just fired so I steamed ahead into detection range to close the gap.  Torpedo's were reloading as I closed so was frantically clicking the fire button, sent off the first salvo and managed to stop myself before the second salvo which would have caught a Friendly DD doing the same thing.  As it was they went past his bow waaaaaay too close for comfort.
