Was sailing a DD, decided to get up close and personal with a single enemy ship, dropped torps and sank him, but despite having sunk the enemy ship and NOT firing a single shot, I stayed detected to all the ships well outside of my concealment range...2.5kms+ outside of my concealment range, and NO planes anywhere.

So were there sailors in the water with coms giving up my position? or what?

I mean I know it is WG and all, not the brightest bunch on the gaming block, but still.

What about opposing DD's you didn't detect?

There was only one dd on enemy team and he was at other end of map...also my dd capt has concealment expert, so I was WELL within my concealment range from enemy ships

Possible causes:

1. Undetected enemy DD nearby

2. Radar (if high tier match)

3. Plane that you can't see (depending on what DD you're driving, planes may be able to spot you before you spot them)

Another DD with a concealment lower than yours was detecting you and keeping you spotted. I do that all the time with my DDs that have concealment expert, especially when I notice an opposing captain doesn't have that skill and gives me almost a 1km window to keep them spotted without them knowing I'm there.

But you didn't provide a replay, so your memory might be a little off. There's never replays when things that shouldn't happen like this occur which makes me doubt all of it

anyway, it appears that most will just regurgitate other people's responses without reading my replies, so no definitive answers as to why this happened within reason I guess.

No need to get so defensive.

It really doesn't matter I suppose, have never noticed this happening before. So I will just move on and play on.

Just thought I might get a quick answer that makes sense. Like when you fire the guns you stay lit for a bit...but with a sunk ship I just figured I would go back to undetected. Maybe it was just a one time glitch, I don't know.

Cheers!

And we're supposed to believe that why?

I don't care if you believe me or not. No reason to be a troll about it though is there, if you don't believe it, keep yer opinions where they belong and move on.

I can't help you in this case since we don't have footage into what could have happened. Turning on replays would be really helpful from now on though, it takes only a second to do it and uploading that 2mb file for us to watch when these things happen can help us find bugs that should be reported to WG, or explain to you whatever could be causing this unexpected development.

Here's a link on how to do it in case you don't know. If this ever happens again and you have a replay, let us all know, I'm intrigued since I play DDs a lot as of late and haven't had anything like this happen and would hate there to be actually a problem that can fluke the key mechanic to the class

Sinking the ship will not remove the firing penalty to your concealment. You have to wait for the timer to run out; get behind hard cover, or get as much of distance between them and your ship as you can. The firing penalty last a full 20 seconds. Nothing will change that.

The firing penalty for a DD range from 3.06 to 5.9 km, I can give you a specific number if you tell me what DD you were in?

Just weighing in.

I am assuming the ship you got up close and personal to before sinking him spotted you.  Once you are spotted there seems to be a minimum time you are lit before going dark again.

There was also a bug report that specified the game was leaving the detection light on due to the new radar icon it shows, even though you were not spotted.

So my question here would be, how long after the enemy ship sank did you think you were lit for ?  Were enemy ships shooting at you this entire time?   What ship was it you were playing? Sorry if I missed that.

I find in my experience, the RU DDs seem to stay lit longer, after initial spotting, than some others.  Example my Udaloi seems to be lit forever even when I'm not firing and/or away from the spotting ship in comparison to the Fletcher.

I think that the debuff to concealment lasts for a bit (20 sec someone says above me, lol) and does not go away because the originally-spotting ship is sunk.  But you also said you didn't fire guns?  Torps aren't supposed to break concealment.
