New Anti torpedo defense system

While thinking of how much of a threat Subs are to any surface ship I was wondering "why not just create an anti torpedo...Torpedo?"

 

and after a few months while looking up the protection of the Nimitz class carriers I come across this the  (Surface Ship Torpedo Defense)

I've always thought a XX billion dollar aircraft carrier should have something more than speed and sonar-based anti-torpedo. Glad to see they're trying something new, especially with all the new ultra quiet air-independent subs.
