Dear group, I am MadCard05.

I recently finished the New York battleship. I was Unicrum in her. I can honestly saw I was not excited about playing the New Mexico, I hated her in CBT (she wasn't in Alpha), and I I feel myself hating her now in her stock state. I played two games before I just walked away from the game for 2 hours, and I sunk both times. Her stock speed is almost unplayable at Tier 6, especially as the maps get bigger, and the abysmal range of her guns makes it worse. I decided to follow an Amagi for the first match. As he charged in I charged in, against a New Mexico and a Nagato. He took a single torpedoes, and with 9/10ths of his HP, winning the battle, he turned tail and ran. His paint was really scratched. I raged inside as I was abandoned to die against a formerly inferior force as our cruiser and destroyer were sunk in exchange for their cruiser, leaving me alone against 2 battleships. I got pinched between the 2 battleships and was eventually dispatched between them and the carrier picking on me having no AAA. The Amagi lived as we lost by a landslide. I don't think he took any further damage, thank god, I fear he may never shake the day he almost took minor damage.

The 2nd match was better, we won, but I still got sunk. We were out numbered in BBs 3 to 2, luckily we had an Amagi on our side, not the same one as last game luckily. He said he'd go A, and guard A and B, so I did the same. I pushed up between the two points, supporting our fleet and tangling with an enemy Nagato. We had a clear advantage, and B was ours. The Nagato was as good as dead as long as the Amagi continued to push up and helped, or our cruisers came from A, where most of our team was to help. They didn't. They all camped behind the island, despite our superior numbers. I almost sunk the Nagato, at the price of nearly dying, and was finished off by a DD that snuck into B as I struggled to maintain our control on the area. My sacrifice proved to be the difference and won us the game, the Amagi ended the game on fire, panicking like mad with 3/4ths of his HP left and all of his repairs.

I decided to play my Clemson and take a break. The next match the entire team sailed north from our north spawn and not a single ship entered one of the 3 caps besides me before we were beaten. I didn't die, but everyone was really afraid to take damage as I desperately scouted for them and sunk 2 DDs for them.

I quit for 2 hours out of frustration.

Please, share your stories, and let us take solace in the fact that we're not alone.

IMO, NY was horrible and NM was a godsend. I couldn't bear with the NY's guns, shell arcs, and speed. NM was worth my time.

And it seems like you've played purely USN/German lines only. Because I can't see your CBT stats & what ships you played then, I'd have to say that you should try the IJN BB lines and get used to them. Not that I'm saying the Amagi did the right thing, but to enjoy that range they have over what the USN BBs have =P

I played them a bit in Alpha and CBT, but keep in mind things were VERY different in Alpha, and a little different in CBT. We only had the American North Carolina, Iowa, and Montana in Alpha. I think I had the Fuso in CBT, but I can't remember now, I think I just got it before the end of CBT.

So is there a site that still shows CBT stats? I didn't think that existed, I was fairly certain all of the stuff stat tracking wise is more recent, and WG wiped their stuff from CBT.

However, I can assure you neither Amagi played properly.

The first Amagi nearly avoided combat completely.

The 2nd Amagi basically did. He sat behind an island, not firing, for nearly the entire match. The only time he really fired was when a shiny new Russian CL snuck up behind him and was pelting him with HE.

Honestly I feel like battleships have the worst stock syndrome. Other ships I can generally make work without growing white hairs.

I think my biggest problem with the New Mexico is that you basically have your 14in guns still, but are facing ships with better armor. While many people dislike the Colorado, I tend to like her more because I'd rather have the extra punch of her guns.

They actually saved our CBT stats. Here are your archived stats.

Nnnno. The only ship you'll face with better armor broadside is the Colorado. Other than that, everything still seems the same.

I'm actually half and half here. I hate the Colorado's dispersion but I'll agree that I like the punch. Additionally, the Colo's guns seem to have much worse penetration than the Nagato's. I can constantly hurt Nagatos head on with the Nagato 16-in but Colo's just don't work for some reason.

I mainly played everything out of stock, but when I finally noticed that I had 200k free exp sitting around I began to use it. Plus I got through Fuso in the beta before they gave it its hilarious stock form now, so I've never experienced it.

Most DDs aren't so bad stock, so I used it mainly to pick up torps on tier 9s (or range for my Udaloi). For CVs I'm instantly picking up the fighters. BBs, no more terrible stock AP if there's a real difference for that tier. I guess I'll splurge on the B hulls of cruisers if I start a line.

From playing on both the SEA and NA servers, that's typical Japanese BB player procedure...shell everything at max range ( especially cruisers for easy kills ),and run if anything even looks at causing them damage.

Carriers stock are pretty bad-especially since you are forced to match up against another carrier.

Agreed there. Even grinding against the AI for those upgrades can be frustrating at times in a CV.

Literally almost every ship I've had was stock at one point, especially the higher tiers. I gotta say the worst line hands down is IJN BBs stock. You haven't seen bad till you've driven one of those (especially if there's a CV battle).

I'm only at tier 7 on the US side, but the Colorado definitely won it for me here. This thing was such a beast to handle I regretted selling my NM. The B hull and paying the money for the rudder upgrade has made this one of my favorite ships so far.

Really the worst part is dealing with the captains too.

Had some player in his North Carolina that threw in the towel early. He stayed beyond 15km of enemy ships for most of the match, hurting his accuracy, and gives up any hope of winning just 6 minutes into the match. I communicated with my teammates, trying to get a decent counterpunch together, but no avail. Same NC jerk kept trashing the team as filth and fled rather than fight.

See him on other team (same map) and he's one of the first on their team to die. I felt badly for the other team and expressed my sympathy at having such a worthless twit ranting on them; they were kinda grateful we sank his sorry butt. I looked up that player and saw his averages far worse than mine, including a K/D ratio below 1! I called him out on that in chat for being such a whiner and reported him for chat abuse.

It is tiresome dealing with such jerks sometimes. Wish I had blocked him.
