The base stats of Hydoacoustic for spotting torpedoes is 2.67 km but if I have vigilance would that extend that range further out?

1,662 [CALM] YamatoA150 Beta Testers 6,838 posts 6,088 battles Report post #4 Posted March 23, 2016 Vigilance DOES NOT stack with Hydro from my testing, but DOES stack with the Target Acquisition Mod available to T7+ or T8+ ships. So you could more or less set up for basically a permanent Hydro (assuming they're not fired from smoke) with both Vigilance and Target Acquisition Mod and have just enough warning time to try and deal with the incoming torps, only using Hydro when near smokescreens. IIRC Hydro helps with watching for torpedoes (and destroyers within range) if smokescreen diving to try and flush out that DD though. I believe Smokescreen does cut the detection/acquisition range short, making Hydro (and maybe Radar) useful for those moments. Then if you have a Spotter plane you could also spot torpedoes further out. Not sure if Catapult Fighters still spot torpedoes; I've switched back to Spotters where possible since they're marginally more useful than Fighters. There are enough layers in-game now to try and spot torpedoes as early as possible, but at the cost of some effectiveness somewhere else (the obvious being the loss of AADF on cruisers, and getting Vigilance over Superintendent or the faster Damage Control skill as your second 3-rank skill). Thanks for the info guys. Yamato, I was wondering this because I'm thinking of keeping the T5 Kirov and with it having a turning circle of 860m I wanted to make sure I was going to see torpeodes as soon as possible to have a greater chance of dodging them.
