I know its early but does anyone know how the sounds are now for getting citadeled or having a module damaged?

Did they do away with them entirely or just lower the volume?

An epic brofist was riding on this change but I guess it will be withheld. Literally the only bit of the patch that I was looking forward to. Its the pitch of the sound effect that causes some people (like me) pain, not the volume. Ever take one of those hearing tests with all the beeps and boops of various pitch and volume? The pitch is the same for each different beep, they just lower the volume progressively til you cant hear it. Tell me, which beep do you hear all the way down to the lowest volume? The deep boop or the high pitched beep?

I've had those hearing tests. My high range is shot so I don't find the sound so annoying. I am not affected by the sound of fingernails on a chalkboard either. So it works for me in game. What doesn't work is that I often can't hear my wife when her pitch changes. I get citadelled then...

The old sound made me feel like someone was scraping the inside of my skull with a rusty fork, hopefully the new ones are not as bad.

They aren't deafeningly loud and distracting anymore but the sounds are so aggravating that it makes me want to flip my computer desk

The sounds were included for the new release of WOWS: Blue and Red edition, now available on GB and GBC.

I told you!  :teethhappy:

They'd replace the old sound with a different, but equally annoying sound.

It's the WG way!

The game boys midi tone processor produces better tones than the damaged/destroyed module sound. As for citadels I can't hear them at all anymore. I used that ringing noise as a measure of self punishment for being a scrub though

Seems like the volume went down but the effect itself is (least to me) sounds the same...

Devs, it's not the volume that affects us, it's the pitch/tone of the sound itself.

Lowering the volume does not help

I hear plenty of complaints about the sound but I daresay I like them. They're not the best but ... I like em. I remember when I first ran into a Fuso and duly collected a fusillade. I had to check my teeth in case one or two had been knocked off. Folks now say the whistle and screech from getting citadeled should be taken out but I disagree. The hit from any shell in this game shouldn't be pleasant. I even hear that in real life the crescendo of approaching shells in a sea battle were horrendous. Some described it like the wail of a train in a narrow tunnel bearing down on you. So WG has my blessing to render even more hideous sounds for hits if they please. Lol.

This reminds me of one of those radio announcements in one of the Grand Theft Auto radio stations:  "Radio KFKU!  We tell YOU what's good!  Then we play it, play it, playit, playit playit playitplayitplayit - PLAY IT 'till you like it!"

This stuff is really surreal, because I'm usually so focused that I never notice the sounds.

I still have no idea what anyone's talking about.

It's the new module destruction sound you get when a turret for example, is incapacitated. Then there's the long ongoing complaint on the ringing noise when you take citadel or heavy damage that is very high pitched, something akin to having your ears ring right when something explodes by you.

I can pull out the sounds for you to hear later if you want.

There is an advantage to being old and having crappy hearing.  I was never bothered by the old annoying sound because I couldn't hear it very well.

After putting in a few games and getting some guns shot off, I haven't noticed any change in the sound effects even with the master volume down to 30%. Can confirm without a doubt, the problem with the sounds is not the volume, its the frequency. We need a toggle option to disable those two sounds entirely. That or a mod to replace both of them with a kitten mew.

First time I heard the module destruction sound (at least the new one), I seriously thought something glitched.

We need a mod that has Sgt Doakes saying "Suprise Mother F*****!!!" instead. I would be okay with this

I have to add to the complaints on the module destroyed sound. It really ruins gameplay, if this is a way to get one's attention it surely is the wrong approach.

It's distracting in a bad way. Sounds like metal screetching on heavier metal followed by tinnitus ring. Wonderful.
